Around the world in 60 days: The ultimate luxury travel experience

Butterfield & Robinson

Recent travel trends suggest travelers are seeking inspiration through entertainment. Thanks to Guy Ritchie’s Fountain of Youth, starring John Krasinski and Natalie Portman, travelers are now hopping aboard the “around the world” travel trend. Data from Spate suggests that social media views on videos related to travel around the world have increased by 20% this quarter, with an average weekly view of 79.6 million.

Additionally, the search term “trip around the world” has increased by 5% this past quarter, indicating that travelers are interested in continent-hopping. Building on this trend concept, Butterfield & Robinson has launched a new “60-Day Around the World” trip that seamlessly blends luxury, culture, and conscious travel into a single journey.

About the 60-Day Around the World Trip

The once-in-a-lifetime 60-day trip will take travelers to six destinations across four continents — all within just 60 days. In honor of the brand’s 60th anniversary, this celebration trip focuses on the regions they love and the people who bring them to life. Travelers on this journey will have the opportunity to experience the world through a variety of immersive cultural moments, breathtaking active excursions, and indulgent cuisine. The brand’s experience designers have carefully crafted each journey.

The first of the six destinations on this around-the-world trip kicks off in Oaxaca, followed by Cambodia and Vietnam, India, Morocco, Turkey, and ending in Burgundy. Guests can also book each destination as a separate excursion if joining the 60-day adventure seems a bit too daring.

Around the world itinerary

Oaxaca

At this kick-off location, travelers can immerse themselves in Zapotec culture and explore its unique landscapes. From legendary mezcal tastings at the renowned Casa Silencio to visiting the 2,000-year-old Cypress, El Árbol del Tule, this destination kicks off the around-the-world trip with rich culture.

Mekong and Hoi An

Travelers will begin in Cambodia and board a luxurious boat to sail the Mekong. Along the way, they’ll tour local farms, bike alongside canals, visit floating markets, and even eat dinner at the home of a local chef.

India

Next, travelers will stay in RAAS Jodhpur, a restored palace, and visit Rajasthan’s leopard sanctuary, Suján Jawai. The Indian experience also immerses travelers in the culture by visiting local workshops to learn more about the community and art in the city.

Morocco

In Morocco, travelers will spend time in the desert and explore the Atlas Mountains. A travel guide will navigate travelers through the mountain, educating them about the 2023 earthquake and its impacts on the region. Visitors will learn about the community’s resilience and how they’ve rebuilt since.

Turkey

Next stop: Ancient Turkey. Here, travelers will wander Istanbul’s bazaars, ride in a balloon over Cappadocia’s fairy chimneys, and bike along the Aegean coast. The Turkey experience also includes sunset feasts amid ancient temples and private yacht swims, for a blend of adventure with a dash of luxury.

Burgundy

Ending in Burgundy, the around-the-world trip concludes with a visit to Butterfield & Robinson’s friends and family (where the company began). Here, travelers can enjoy exclusive visits with boutique winemakers, learn the art of barrel making, and savor farm-to-table local cuisine.

Discover the magic of Orcas Island: the ultimate PNW getaway
Visiting the San Juan Islands in May: How to make the most of your summer
Sarah Joseph at Orcas Island

One of the most exciting adventures that you can experience while visiting the PNW is a trip to the San Juan Islands. Famous for its lush greenery, picturesque views, and most importantly, orcas, this area holds a special place in my heart. This past May, my husband and I had the opportunity to stop by the Worldmark Deer Harbor hotel for a glorious two nights. Here's everything we did to make the most of our trip.
Getting to Orcas Island

My husband and I drove from the Seattle area up to Anacortes port, where we took a ferry up to Friday Harbor. Do yourself a favor and make sure that you get a reservation for the ferry, since there's no guarantee that you'll be able to sneak on in the stand-by line. This must be done two or three months in advance. Since we didn't have a reservation, we ended up having to wait in line an extra three hours before making it onto the ferry, so it ended up being a pretty late night for us. The ferry to Friday Harbor is a good eighty minutes or so since it made a few stops to other islands before it got to our final destination. Fortunately, the rest of the trip went without hiccups!
