Although they may seem like an unlikely pair, the partnership between MM6 Maison Margiela and Dr. Martens is a natural fit; both brands have their unique sense of design, accompanied by signature details, making them easily recognizable in any piece. Together, the pair has released modern classics that include distinct designer touches. Now, in a new collaboration, the duo is bringing their style to some of Dr. Martens’ most iconic silhouettes. In this latest collaboration, the pair has leveraged their skills to create new, hybrid styles that perfectly align with current footwear favorites. Like New Balance’s hybrid sneaker-loafer, these hybrid styles contain some of your favorite features of multiple designs. Along with MM6 Maison Margiela’s significant avant-garde flair, these new styles are the perfect way to update your favorite Dr. Martens styles.

MM6 Maison Margiela and Dr. Martens take on the hybrid trend

In their latest partnership, MM6 Maison Margiela and Dr. Martens reveal two new hybrids composed of four of Dr. Martens’ designs. The first style features elements from the 1460 and 1461 models, combining the brand’s 3-eye boot and 3-eye shoe designs. This custom design includes a stark white colorway with an embossed MM6 Maison Margiela numeric artwork on the ankle shaft and a custom white AirWair heel loop. The second style combines features of the 1461 style and the Penton loafer, creating a stunning hybrid of sneaker and loafer. Also featuring a stark white colorway, this hybrid design boasts a slip-on style and numeric artwork on the insole. Both styles are crafted from a mixture of Smooth and Virginia leather, giving them an elevated look. The two MM6 Maison Margiela x Dr. Martens designs are available via both brands’ webstores and retail for $320 and $290.

One of the most distinct details the two brands have added to their collaboration is the long hair texture on the new Penton loafer. Using hairy suede and a smooth leather heel counter, the loafer has a more statement and trendy look. Completing the loafer is a creeper-inspired woven detail on the vamp and moc-toe stitching.
