While its design might not seem drastically different from other New Balance sneakers, the 992 silhouette has earned its status as one of the most popular in the brand’s lineup. First released in 2006 to commemorate the brand’s 100th anniversary, the 992 gained notoriety as the go-to sneaker for the late Steve Jobs. As part of his uniform, the 992 became a go-to practical shoe for many. While Steve Jobs was keen on the sneaker’s grey shade, the newest release of the sneaker sets out to give this silhouette a moodier feel. Not straying too far from its traditional look, the latest 992 will feature a darker colorway, making it a perfect option for those seeking a comfortable shoe later in the year.
New Balance’s 992 sneaker gets a fall-ready upgrade

Featuring its iconic premium suede and breathable mesh base, the 992 will arrive in a dark-colored green hue that gives a tint of a brown shade. This “Dark Camo” shade lends the suede a more elevated texture, enhancing the silhouette’s overall appearance. Casting a slight contrast to this dark hue are reflective accents and dark gray details throughout, giving it an almost entirely monochromatic look. Featuring the brand’s ABZORB SBS cushioning and TS2 support, the 992 doesn’t falter in its typical comfort features. N-durance outsoles are also included, providing the sneaker with an additional layer of durability and protection. As of now, the New Balance 992 “Dark Camo” is only available via New York-based retailer Extra Butter for $200. A global release is expected to hit shelves later in the year, along with several new colorways.
