With footwear trends focusing on archival designs, it’s no wonder that many brands are embracing the past for their new releases. Taking an ode to 70s-era running shoes, New Balance is expanding its collection with a new lifestyle sneaker that brings a vintage design into a new era. Donning a slimmer look than we are used to seeing from New Balance sneakers, this everyday sneaker reinvigorates the brand’s lifestyle line, which its trendy athletic lineup has often overshadowed. Better fit for everyday wear and use, the latest New Balance sneaker is ideal for those looking for comfort, style, and practicality.
New Balance’s newest lifestyle sneaker is here
Although the newest release sees the appearance of the New Balance 471 model, much of the design is inspired by the brand’s 320 silhouette. Launched in 1976, the 320 model was the first shoe in the company to use its signature “N” logo on the side. Along with this oversized leather ‘N’ logo, the sneaker comprises mesh uppers with suede overlays, allowing for a breathable design. A wedge-shaped midsole sits on top of a herringbone-patterned outsole for a luxe and simple look. Another retro touch is the toebox’s classic “fang” design, which adds a subtle twist to the traditional New Balance design. The lifestyle sneaker will be released in only one colorway: Timberwolf with Angora and Dusk shower.
According to Joe Walsh, New Balance’s lead footwear designer, in a press release, “We knew we wanted to offer a shoe with a sleeker profile while maintaining our strong connection and history within the ’70s running space.” With a stark 70’s touch, this lifestyle sneaker is a modern iteration of one of New Balance’s iconic releases. Those looking to add the latest New Balance design to their everyday look can purchase it on March 26 via the New Balance web store.
