Introducing Alex Mill

Alex Drexler has taken the motto, ‘Like Father, Like Son’ to the next level. Alex is the son of Mickey Drexler, the CEO of J. Crew, and has launched his own collection of cozy basics for the modern man and his son called Alex Mill. It’s rolling out for fall 2013 – right now.

The collection was built around the idea of a man’s uniform of well-crafted essentials with a reasonable price point ($55-$295). There is the woven shirt, the classic fit jean, the eponymous t-shirt and unstructured blazer. Drexler junior spent over ten years in production and other arenas of the fashion industry, so he wanted something that lasts, has plenty of character and improves with wear. The entire collection is founded on the ‘Wash & Go’ principle, nothing precious here, you can take it, wear it and wash it anywhere and be good to go. The 100% cashmere hats and gloves are also high on our wish list for fall/winter warmth.

While we are pumped to have a new basic brand for us guys, it’s great to see someone doing something for the little guy that doesn’t make him look like another mall clone. Shirts in chambray, multi-colored stripes and mis-matched plaids are refreshing for kids aged 2-10.

Next season the brand will continue to evolve to an idea of the man’s uniform. Alex revealed that they will be introducing a chino, polo, military jacket and other key items centering around the uniform idea. We wonder when the J.Crew collab will happen to make the ‘Father/Son’ come full circle.

Alex Mill can be found at Barneys and Barneys.com, Unionmade and www.unionmadegoods.com, Odin, United Arrows, Journal Standard and the Mohawk General Store as well as other specialty stores throughout the world.

Paddy the Baddy is turning his Drake-gifted Rolex watch into a charity opportunity
Man wearing a suit and wearing a Rolex.

Paddy Pimblett is one of the premier fighters on the planet and has made a name for himself by dispatching his foes quickly and efficiently. As a matter of fact, he so efficiently dispatched an opponent so decisively last year that he assisted Drake in winning a double bet of over $3 million. To show his gratitude, the musician gifted the fighter with a beautiful Rolex watch.

While the piece is one that most people would cherish and keep on their shelves forever, likely showing to every person that enters with the humble brag that Drake himself gave it to them, Paddy the Baddy is taking a different approach. The combination of the luxurious brand and the novelty that Drake bought it specifically for Pimblett means the watch could fetch a whopping $50,000-$65,000 on the market. The fighter sees an opportunity to use that money to jump-start another one of his ventures close to his heart.

Look your best while being festive, without the ugly Christmas sweater
style tips for holiday party outfits christmas

It's Christmas time again, which means your calendar is beginning to fill up with a bunch of parties — get-togethers with colleagues, family, neighbors, and friends (some of which you know will be a lot more fun than others). Holiday parties are a side product of the spirit and joy of the season, and with those parties come dress codes.

Of course, one thing that people love to ask for is the ugly Christmas sweater, but instead of subjecting yourself to the laughter and ridicule of the people in your circle, there are better ways to dress well and stay festive for all of the events you have on your calendar for the next few weeks.
Let your colors speak
One of the ways you can set your holiday wardrobe apart from the rest of the year is through color combinations. While red and green are the classic color scheme for Christmas, the combination often is garish and overdone. Instead, add in some more subtle winter colors or darker versions of the Christmas classics.

One of the core lessons we learn in our youth is never to judge a book by its cover; it's what's on the inside that counts. Well, we're here to tell you that that is terrible advice. It's human nature to make up your mind about someone the moment you meet them. When you enter a job interview, the interviewer subconsciously makes a lot of judgments about you on the spot. Think of it as a scale of 0–10, where 10 gets you hired and zero gets you pushed to the back of the unemployment line. The moment your interviewer lays eyes on you, you are either a 0 or a 10, and the rest of the interview will likely only reaffirm that number.

If you think it gets better once you have a job, guess again. It actually happens more often. As you move up in your company, you have the people above you and below you in rank going through the same process. This is why your professional wardrobe can make all the difference and even make you more money. Here's how.
