Adventure-ready features include all-terrain tires, a beefier V6, and plenty of trail-friendly accessories.

It seems every carmaker is getting into the “rugged SUV” game these days. Turns out Honda is no exception. The ubiquitous Japanese brand recently announced plans to debut its most overland-ready SUV ever: The 2025 Passport TrailSport.

The all-new Honda Passport TrailSport is slated to be the most adventure-ready model in the Passport line-up. Notable upgrades include 31-inch all-terrain tires and a much shorter front overhang to drastically improve the vehicle’s approach angle, making quick work of steep, backcountry trails. Bold, orange, heavy-duty recovery points at the front will also allow for righting the ship or getting you out of trouble if things go sideways out there.

Plus, the 2025 TrailSport will be powered by a beefier DOHC 3.5L V6 mated to a 10-speed automatic for smoother and more precise shifts. Honda’s solid i-VTM4 torque-vectoring AWD system will come standard. Drivers will also have access to the optional TrailWatch — a brand-new off-road nav system to help navigate the backcountry.

The company also confirmed the widest available line-up of Genuine Honda Accessories for the upcoming Passport. Available rock sliders will bolster the model’s off-road prowess, especially when combined with its standard heavy-duty steel skid plates. An aluminum scuff plate up front will help protect the fascia, and a long list of available cargo and MOLLE-compatible storage accessories will also be available.

2025 Jeep Wagoneer Overland is a rare, limited-edition, off-road-ready beast
With beefy tires, a next-gen 4x4 system, and trail-ready tech, it's Jeep's most off-road-capable Wagoneer ever
2025 Jeep Wagoneer Overland SUV parked in the desert.

In my experience, I rarely see the latest generation of Jeep Wagoneers out on the trail. They're far more likely to be found in the parking lot of a yoga studio or smoothie cafe. But, that doesn't make them any less capable of conquering the backcountry. To further cement its off-road-ready chops, Jeep just released the limited-edition 2025 Jeep Wagoneer Overland Special Edition.

The exclusive new trim takes its already trail-ready SUV to the next level, with a long list of exclusive upgrades that make it the most capable Wagoneer in the lineup. A Quadra-Drive II 4x4 system with an electronic limited-slip differential and a two-speed transfer case automatically sends up to 100% of engine power to either the front or rear axle, depending on the required traction. That transfer case also boasts a 4-Low mode with a 48:1 crawl ratio and a user-selectable Rock Mode as part of Jeep's Selec-Terrain traction system (with Auto, Sport, Snow, and Sand/Mud settings, too). Plus, a Quadra-Lift air suspension with semi-active damping gives this Wagoneer up to 10 inches of total ground clearance. It all rides on beefy 32-inch all-terrain tires and handsome, 20-inch aluminum rims.

Pirelli unveils the Scorpion XTM AT, its most extreme all-terrain tire ever
Ultra-aggressive, advanced, and 3PMSF-rated, it's the pinnacle of more than 25 years of Pirelli tire design
Ford Bronco driving through the desert on Pirelli Scorpion XTM all-terrain tires.

Forget rooftop tents and hi-lift jacks and fancy LED light bars, there's arguably nothing more important to a properly kitted-out overlanding rig than a good set of tires. After all, your truck's tires are the only part of the vehicle that maintains constant contact with the ground. That's why you need a tire that balances easy, on-pavement driving with meeting the demands of more extreme off-road conditions. Enter: Pirelli's new Scorpion XTM all-terrain tire.

"XTM" stands for "Extreme" performance, so it's no surprise that this is Pirelli's most extreme all-terrain tire ever. It features ultra-aggressive styling, a high-void tread pattern, and more advanced technology that's purpose-built for truck and off-road enthusiasts looking to explore deep into the North American backcountry. The large-tread-block design extends into the upper sidewall for improved traction and durability. It's a design that excels in the gnarliest off-road conditions most overlanders are likely to encounter, such as mud, dirt, sand, or gravel. Plus, reinforced shoulder technology adds protection from obstacles, including sharp gravel and jagged rock overhangs. One especially clever feature is the Scorpion XTM's built-in "rock ejectors," which are designed to automatically shed rocks embedded in the tire's deep treads.
