International travel is booming again, which means families are searching for safe and family-friendly destinations for 2025. A recent study, published by Deluxe Holiday Homes, evaluated 40 of the world’s safest countries for family travel in 2025, using a composite scoring system based on five weighted metrics. The results found that Japan ranked first as the safest and most affordable destination for international family travel, thanks to its safety, infrastructure, and recreational value. Japan scored a 100, per the study.
The five metrics include each country’s Safety Index, the number of family accommodations (per Booking.com), the average cost of family accommodations, the restaurant costs for four, and the total number of family-friendly activities. Each country was scaled to 100 points. China scored 85.2, primarily due to its affordability in daily expenses and high safety, as well as access to family-focused activities. Poland (score 84.9), Taiwan (score 79.4), and the UAE (score 78.6) ranked third, fourth, and fifth, respectively.
According to the study, Poland ranked third in the safest countries for family travel in 2025, leading all destinations in family room availability and offering a wide array of family-friendly attractions throughout the country. Meanwhile, Taiwan is a popular destination for those seeking calm and cultural exploration for families. While accommodation and food are higher at the end compared to other countries, the UAE, ranked 5th due to its high safety index, placing it amongst the safest countries in the analysis.
A spokesperson from Deluxe Holiday Homes commented on the study: “Families planning international travel are no longer just chasing the lowest prices, they’re looking for destinations that feel easy, safe, and enriching all at once. The most appealing places are those that remove stress from the equation, offering a mix of affordability, infrastructure, and peace of mind. That balance is becoming the new standard for what defines a family-friendly destination.”
