The new BMW R 1250 RS offers cool new features at the same old price

BMW's new sport touring bike delivers a more tech-forward design

Some changes are in store for the BMW R 1250 RS for the 2023 model year. While not revolutionary, the changes are sure to be enjoyed by most riders and result in a more tech-forward bike. Plus, the best part is that the 2023 R 1250 RS costs the same as the 2022 model.

The major upgrade for the new year is the introduction of Dynamic Traction Control as standard. Previously, buyers had to spring for the Premium Package that cost an extra $3,175 to get the feature. So, seeing it as standard on the sport touring bike is a huge benefit for 2023.

BMW is providing riders with improved braking performance with the addition of BMW Integral ABS Pro as standard for the updated R 1250 RS. The system makes the bike more stable under hard braking, while Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) is also a new feature that stops any unwanted throttle inputs during panic braking.

Riders looking to maximize range and fuel economy from the 1,254 cc four-stroke boxer engine will be happy to hear that the R 1250 RS now has a new ECO riding mode. It joins Rain and Road modes, and brings an updated throttle map and a slight reduction in torque. Thanks to an efficiency reading on the upper left of the display, riders can keep track of their real-time consumption during a ride.

For a little more control over the available ride modes, like being able to have individual configurable riding modes, riders should look into the Riding Modes Pro feature that’s offered with the Premium Package. Not only does the package allow drivers to have a custom configuration for ride modes, it also brings Engine Drag Torque Control that limits brake slip at the rear wheel during coasting or downshifting.

Despite these upgrades, which result in a safer, more user-friendly R 1250 RS, pricing surprisingly remains the same. The 2023 model carries an MSRP of $15,695 – the same as 2022 – as long as you stick with the Standard Light White paint job. Look for the 2023 BMW R 1250 RS to arrive at dealerships in spring 2023.

Lexus is paying tribute to its offroading community with six new GX builds. The modified SUVs include a version for each generation of GX so far, with a new 2024 GX 550 Overtrail+ AAP Build leading the way.
What's new with the 2024 GX 550
Lexus’ third-gen GX packs a 3.4L V6 engine capable of cranking out 349 horsepower and an impressive 479 lb.-ft of torque. Those buying the new GX 550 will get a number of features as standard, including a tough aluminum skid plate, 10-inch rims, 33-inch all-terrain tires, and black accents on the overdefenders.

When it comes to upgrades, storage space seems to lead the way. Customers can add A Prinsu Roof Rack, Pelican, BX90R Cargo Case, BX55S Cargo Case, and Prinsu Rear Window Accessory Panels to really max out the vehicle’s carrying capacity. You also get the equipment you’ll need to save yourself when your vehicle gets stuck -- like a pair of rotoPax two-gallon containers, a DMOS Delta Shovel, and ARB TRED Pro recovery boards. All in all, Lexus is putting together an expedition-worthy Gen 3 GX.
The GX 460 is also getting an update
The new GX 550 isn’t the only option Lexus is presenting. The GX 460, its older sibling, has also had a bit of a makeover. The treatment is similar to that other all-terrain Lexus vehicles have received but with a distinctive and eye-catching saffron yellow body wrap. The accessories do differ slightly, and a hammock stand comes attached to the GX 460. It’s also packing a 63-quart fridge in the back, which should keep your snacks nice and cool. Underneath it all, a 301-horsepower 4.6-liter V8 engine brings a respectable 329 lb.-ft. of torque to the table. A full skid plate is also fitted, so that the engine should be protected from even the harshest terrain.

Ford Motor Company aims to make EV truck selection simpler and less costly with the 2024 F-150 Lightning Flash, a new sweet-spot model that starts at just under $70,000. Referring to the Lightning Flash as a "tech-forward model," Ford employs a standard automaker strategy of bundling existing options to create a new model.

The F-150 Lightning Flash is essentially an optioned-up Lighting XLT model. The upgraded tech in the F-150 Lightning Flash starts with an extended-range battery, which increases the e-truck's power and range. All F-150 Lightning models have two electric motors, one on each axle. The extended-range battery delivers up to 433 kilowatts of power for up to 580 horsepower and 775 foot-pounds of torque, with an EPA estimated 320 miles maximum range. These numbers are significant boosts from the standard battery's 337kW, 452 horsepower, 775 ft-lb of torque, and EPA estimated 240 miles range.
