At a certain age, there are things that every respectable male should possess: a decent suit, a reliable pocket knife, and the confidence to change a tire, for starters. Some tasks require tougher tools and tougher apparel, though. Things like splitting wood, grinding in the shed, and mending fences at the ranch, for example, all call for a proper barn coat (also called a barn jacket or chore coat) — a durable outer layer that blends timeless style and rugged construction with all-day comfort.

What is a chore coat and why should you wear one?

Chore coats, also known as barn coats, are made from tough materials like waxed canvas or breathable cotton. Chore clothing, such as chore pants and coats, are made for days on the job and days on the road — wherever the season takes you. The best chore coats for men offer plenty of seasonal layering potential while also providing the sort of toughness required for winter weather and yard work that just can’t wait.

Flint and Tinder is one of the best places to go for anything rugged and unapologetically manly. This first option harkens back to WWII navy pilots who wore Bedford Cord in their flight uniforms. While many chore coats are brown or tan, this deep blue hue will look great on the ranch or on the street.

How can you style a chore coat?

The chore coat is made to be roughed up. It isn’t supposed to be dressed up and paraded out to the formal events. However, that doesn’t mean it can’t look fantastic and used to make a dress outfit more casual. You will normally wear these coats with casual button-ups, henleys, or T-shirts over jeans and boots. If you want to elevate the jacket, throw on some slim-cut chinos and a pair of suede Chelsea boots. If you really want to dress it up and look about as dressed up as these can be, consider turtlenecks. Either way, you wear these garments, dressed up or rugged; each of these coats is ready for the job.

Men’s spring style tips: The camp collar is the look of the spring
A classic shirt for impeccable spring style
Frank And Oak Cam Collar floral

Spring is a time when men will start to adapt their wardrobes from the cold weather of the winter to the warm styles of the summer. Different shirts become staples as the seasons go, and some stand the test of time. The other day, I watched Thunderball for the 20th time (c'mon, when is it not a good time to watch James Bond???) and noticed our beloved spy wearing a striking blue short-sleeved button-up with a wide collar. That got my brain going, and I started looking into that type of shirt, called the camp collar (alternatively called the camp shirt, cabana shirt, or cabin shirt).

Of course, while Bond will always be my favorite example, I started seeing the camp collars everywhere once they were in my head. Tony Soprano wore them throughout The Sopranos, Sheriff Jim Hopper wore them in Stranger Things, and countless other examples popped up in my head as I thought about them. As I start considering men's spring fashion of 2025, I can't think of a better addition.

Wedding Season: Wrangler has the solution to that guy who hates dressing up
Elevated Cowboy Comfortable
Wrangler Cowboy Wedding close up

I grew up in Missouri, where there were different kinds of weddings, from the giant ballroom with tuxedos to the barn shindig with the potluck and jeans. There was also the church wedding, which included everything from tuxedos and suits to bolo ties. But there was always that guy who hated dressing up, always the guy who refused to wear the suits and ended up in jeans despite the dress code. While you may always have that guy you struggle to get into something a little more elevated for the occasion, Wrangler may have the happy medium you are looking for in 2025's wedding season. The Wrangler Wedding Suit is going to make any Rip look more appropriate off the ranch.
Cowboy formal

One of our favorite things about guys like Rip Wheeler in Yellowstone is that they are reliable. Hard working, loyal, and dedicated. They can always be found pushing the ranch forward. Now, while that isn't the worst quality to have in a friend or family, many of them have a hard time shifting to the more sociable moments and dressing up for the occasions that call for a little more sartorial excellence. That is where this raw, undyed denim comes into play. Cut from classic Blue Bell denim jeans and denim jacket, they will feel almost identical to what the man wears daily on the ranch. The only difference is the ivory color puts them firmly in the range of a cowbody wedding suit. Adorned with a Wrangler cowboy roping in a stallion, this look is everything a cowboy wants when giving his daughter away or saying his vows, either in the venue, the church, or the barn.

Alex Crane welcomes spring with new colors for the best-seller

Building the right transition wardrobe is all about versatility. Finding ways to make lighter layers work for you by layering up. When you master layering, spring and fall will be more fun and more comfortable, and you can experiment with combining colors, textures, and fabrics. While layering up for the unpredictable rain, winds, and second winters that rudely horn in on the beginning of baseball season, a good sweater is vital for that goal. The Alex Crane Bay Sweater is one of their best sellers every year, and there is a handful of reasons why. The 100% organic cotton is light enough to serve as a layering piece and warm enough to keep you guarded against the unpredictable weather changes.
Understated elegance for spring style

Why use organic cotton? Because it is grown without fertilizers or pesticides and uses 70% less water than conventional cotton. Alex Crane grows their organic cotton in northern India, in the state of Punjab. Cotton is naturally soft, durable, and breathable. Only 1% of global cotton production is organic, so AC looks to help increase that percentage. These Bay Sweaters are made in Romania, in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains, meaning they can source the cotton straight from the sources all over Europe. Now that you have chosen the best cotton sweater for this season, you can style it with a henley or a button-down underneath or a great textured overshirt or jacket over the top of it. The bone, pine, and king colorways are the perfect way to stand out for the current season.
