If you’re the sort of camper who believes there’s such a thing as too much outdoor time, AutoCamp’s latest outpost might provide the perfect getaway. The company combines all the amenities of an upscale boutique hotel with the joy, escape, and natural beauty of a traditional camping experience. We’ve long been fans of their first two California locations in Santa Barbara and Russian River. Now, they’re slated to debut a third — their largest, most remote, and most beautiful yet.

AutoCamp will debut an all-new, 35-acre location in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains in time for next year’s spring hiking season. The “glamp-ground” will feature three cabin suites, 15 luxury canvas tents, and 80 beautifully redesigned Airstream travel trailers. The interior of each vintage unit will be outfitted with modern, luxury appointments to guarantee an elevated camping experience befitting a gentleman. Expect plush linens, well-appointed kitchenettes, spa-inspired bathrooms, and high-end finishes all around.

At the center of the camp will be a two-story, 4,000-square-foot Signature Clubhouse with a chic, Midcentury Modern vibe. Here, guests can gather around a heated swimming pool and hot tub. Canoeing and paddle boating will also be available in a large, outdoor pond. Firepits ringed with Adirondack chairs will encourage a communal vibe amid a backdrop of some of California’s most stunning scenery. The pièce de résistance will be a spacious rooftop deck which, given the location near Yosemite, should provide perfect stargazing opportunities. There are also plans for an artisanal marketplace with craft beer, locally sourced wines, and a gourmet food selection.

AutoCamp Yosemite is ideally situated near the iconic national park. Guests can take advantage of dozens of hiking trails that run in and around the camp. There’s even an onsite YARTS shuttle stop to transport guests to and from the park. The charming town of Mariposa is also just a few minutes away. Here, guests can find plenty of restaurants, cafes, wine tastings, and breweries.

Early reservations at AutoCamp Yosemite are open now, but the site’s first reservations aren’t available until February 2019. But it doesn’t hurt to plan ahead. The company also has East Coast and additional California locations already in the works.

Smoking near the Eiffel Tower could now cost you under France’s new ban
Think twice before lighting up in France
Eiffel tower during day

The image of a cigarette-smoking Parisian strolling along the Seine is quickly becoming more of a memory than a reality. France has just rolled out a sweeping new smoking ban that makes lighting up in many public outdoor spaces, including popular tourist spots like the Eiffel Tower, beaches, parks, and bus stops, illegal.

The new rules, which went into effect this week, are part of a nationwide effort to reduce smoking, especially in areas where children are present. France’s health ministry says tobacco must disappear from places where kids play and gather, a sentiment that most French parents, and the majority of the public, support.

Rioja, Spain comes out on top
Rioja, Spain

Wine lovers, take note. Rioja, Spain has just been crowned the top wine tasting destination in Europe for 2025, and it’s not hard to see why. The team at Quotezone put together their Vineyard Mini-Break Index by diving into the details that matter most for wine tourists, including winery tour costs, hotel prices, local weather, and international wine awards. The result? Rioja poured its way right to the top of the list.

Known as the largest wine region in Spain, Rioja boasts over 600 wineries and more than 65,000 hectares of vineyards. But beyond its sheer size, the region stands out for being surprisingly affordable. The average winery tour will only set you back about $24 USD, and you can snag a good bottle of wine for just $28 USD, making it a wine lover’s paradise that doesn’t break the bank.
