4 Boozy Popsicles to Get You in the Mood for Summer

As warmer weather shortens our pants, sleeves, and nights, day drinking becomes socially acceptable again (though if you’ve been doing it all along, we salute you, too). But summertime drinking can be a sweaty business, so why not stay cool and get your buzz on at the same time?

We’re all familiar with the countless alcoholic popsicle recipes out there, but you can enjoy refreshing booziness without having to mix anything. A few heroic companies have crafted popsicles after some of your favorite cocktails for your next pool party or barbecue. With frozen treats this delicious, you’ll only have to worry about brain freeze.

These frozen delights take a sleek approach to popsicles that’s centered on a drive to create a natural product. An Italian sorbet base is mixed with fresh fruits and top-shelf liquor to make sure each push pop is under 100 calories, vegan, gluten-free, kosher, and fat-free. Buzz Pop Cocktails’ flavors run from the classic Moscow Mule to the bourbon-based Southern Belle.

This newcomer has already started hitting shelves and has a similar penchant for a natural approach. Drake’s is known for their organic spirits and they’ve even partnered with Buzz Pop Cocktails in the past. Now, as a competitor, Drake’s Spiked Ice is taking on an ice pop format at 80 calories a pop in Mango Rum Punch, Vodka Lemonade, Watermelon Martini, and Classic Mojito. In addition to being vegan, gluten-free, and kosher, these pops are certified organic, so they’re as guilt-free as a dessert could be.

Slim Chillers

The undeniable kings of boozy ice pops, Slim Chillers descend on Costco stores across the country every summer. You’ll still get classic takes on martinis like Watermelon Lemonade and Cosmopolitan, but this summer you can also chomp down on wine cocktails, from a bellini to a mimosa. Due to their popularity, you can also find Slim Chillers at your local BevMo or liquor store.

FrutaPOP

FrutaPOP is another natural ice pop company that uses natural ingredients and doesn’t add any dyes or sugars. They’re the least potent pops on this list, so you can have a few without getting too wild. You can order a variety pack or flavors like Brosé Rosé and Guava Cosmo. You can even get some non-alcoholic fruit pops or chocolate cold brew pops, so everyone can join in the fun.

Give your iced coffee a cheeky boozy strawberry twist
Small strawberries in container

If you love to sip on an iced coffee in the afternoon and you also love to make cocktails, this is a combination you shouldn't miss out on. Iced coffee is great for mixing into cocktails thanks to its robust, bitter flavor that melds well with spirits and other boozy ingredients. When you're working with coffee, one important trick is to use a stronger brew than you usually would for sipping alone, especially for ingredients like cold brew. While you might want a more mellow version of cold brew to drink on its own, when using it in cocktails it's helpful to have some extra punch, so brew it strong!

Another way to play with coffee in your drinks is to use a coffee liqueur like Mr Black. The Mr Black team recently came up with a delicious iced coffee-inspired recipe, using strawberries and cream for a taste of summer. This sweet, boozy take on the iced coffee would be the perfect cheeky afternoon treat for a lazy weekend.
