If you’re looking for a budget-friendly Labor Day getaway this year, Tampa, Florida, tops the list. According to KAYAK’s newly released Labor Day Budget Travel Report, the Gulf Coast city boasts the most affordable average airfare for the holiday weekend at just $186.
Tampa offers sunshine, beaches, and excellent dining that makes for a perfect long weekend escape. Visitors can head to the white sands of Clearwater or St. Pete Beach, rent a boat for a day on the water, or enjoy dinner at local favorites like Supernatural Food & Wine, Ebbe, and Mise en Place.
Coming in second is Atlanta, Georgia ($225), known for its live music and stellar food scene, followed by Orlando, Florida ($227), home to theme park icons Disney and Universal Studios.
The report also brings good news for travelers. Domestic flight interest is up just 2% from last year, while international interest has dipped by 3%. Average airfare for U.S. travel has risen only 1%, and international fares have dropped 7% compared to Labor Day weekend 2024.
For the best deals, KAYAK recommends flying on Saturday, Aug. 30 (average $277) or Friday, Aug. 29 ($287). While Las Vegas, New York, and Orlando lead as the most popular destinations overall, Tampa proves you don’t need to splurge to enjoy an unforgettable Labor Day weekend.
