Just in time for winter, Delta Connection partner SkyWest will upgrade its Aspen-bound jets to Embraer 175s. The new planes replace the current Bombardier CRJ-700s and will offer increased cargo capacity, a sleek design, an upgraded cabin, and all-weather performance.

The Embraer EJ175 caters to skiers and snowboarders

Amy Martin – Vice President – Network Planning, said: “Aspen is one of the most iconic ski destinations in the world, and we’re making sure your travel experience matches the magic of the mountains. This aircraft change isn’t just about a new look, it’s about solving real challenges for our customers and enhancing every leg of the journey.”

Approaching Aspen/Pitkin County Airport involves threading through peaks, sometimes in challenging winter conditions. The new Embraer jets will offer improved performance for mountain aviation and upgraded operational reliability.

Inside, the cabin features a modern layout with extra personal space and larger windows. According to Delta, it’s a significant difference.

For serious skiers and snowboarders, having gear arrive safely is essential for good times on the mountain. The Embraer E175 has a larger cargo hold, reducing bulk-out issues, so enthusiasts can bring their equipment without concern.

Lastly, the new jet’s enhanced baggage capacity and handling means travelers can pack for a week or a weekend, and rest assured of a smooth experience at the airport. That’s especially important at a smaller, crowded terminal like Aspen/Pitkin County.

Now, with a smoother flight, all skiers and riders have to do is pick from Aspen Mountain, Snowmass, Aspen Highlands, or Buttermilk, read the trail map(s), and plan out those powder turns. Afterward, après ski awaits — we recommend the J Bar at Hotel Jerome.
