Timex gives heritage chronograph a sporty summer makeover with fabric straps

Timex makes Daytona-inspired Waterbury even more affordable with fabric strap option

Timex has launched a sportier version of its popular Waterbury Heritage Chronograph, just months after the Daytona-inspired timepiece became a hit with budget-conscious collectors. The new Waterbury Heritage Chronograph 39mm Fabric Strap edition offers the same racing-inspired design at a more accessible $299 price point.

The updated chronograph maintains all the functional elements that made the original successful, including its rotating tachymeter bezel, sub-dials, and Daytona-inspired pushers. The 39mm stainless steel case houses a reliable Quartz Analog movement with 50-meter water resistance and mineral glass crystal protection.

Three colorway options are available: the original black and silver, black and gold, and a new racing green edition featuring black, silver, racing green, and yellow accents that nod to classic motorsport colors. The styling remains relatively minimalistic and clean for a racing chronograph, contributing to its overall appeal.

The primary difference lies in the strap configuration. Instead of the original link bracelet or leather options, all three versions now feature matching fabric straps styled to complement each colorway. These woven bands provide a more summer-ready, casual wearing experience compared to the metal bracelet.

The fabric straps offer practical advantages beyond aesthetics. They’re lighter and more breathable than traditional options while maintaining security through Timex-branded buckles. As slip-through straps, the fabric covers the case back, eliminating direct metal contact with skin during hot weather conditions.

The strap change significantly alters the watch’s presentation, making it considerably more casual while maintaining the chronograph’s racing heritage. The 13.5mm case thickness remains unchanged, preserving the watch’s proportional balance.

This fabric strap edition represents Timex’s strategy of making popular designs even more accessible. While the leather strap option maintains the $299 price point, it lacks the breathability and casual appeal of the fabric alternative.

The updated chronograph continues Timex’s tradition of offering Swiss-inspired designs at American prices. The Daytona-like aesthetic combined with reliable quartz movement provides an entry point into racing chronographs without the premium price tag.

All three versions are available immediately through the brand’s website. The $50 price reduction from the bracelet version makes this already affordable timepiece even more attractive to budget-conscious enthusiasts.

Parmigiani Fleurier unveils summer-inspired Tonda PF Sport Chronograph
Swiss manufacturer creates rose gold chronograph inspired by Mediterranean summer lifestyle
Parmigiani Fleurier Summer-Inspired Tonda PF Sport Chronograph

Parmigiani Fleurier has unveiled the Tonda PF Sport Chronograph Rose Gold Sandstone, a timepiece that merges technical mastery with the understated elegance of Mediterranean summer living. The watch invites wearers to experience time not merely as measurement, but as moments of serene escape.
At the heart of the timepiece beats the high-frequency PF070 calibre, a COSC-certified integrated chronograph movement operating at 36,000 vibrations per hour. Engineered for flawless short-time measurement, the movement offers a 65-hour power reserve driven by a skeletonized 22-carat rose gold oscillating weight, ensuring both precision and visual appeal.
The 18-carat rose gold case features alternating satin-brushed and polished finishes that play delicately with light. The silver guilloché dial, punctuated by sand-toned sub-dials, evokes the warmth of sunlit southern shores. The "Sandstone" designation reflects both color and emotion, capturing the contemplative calm of long summer afternoons along the Mare Nostrum, from Sicily to the Mediterranean islands.
A defining feature is the distinctive Tufo-colored rubber strap, inspired by the pale volcanic stone found throughout Mediterranean landscapes. The strap is textured to evoke the appearance and feel of Cordura, a technical fabric prized for its durability and refined structure. With its corduroy-like tactility and saddle-style stitching, the strap blends resilience with artisanal finesse.
"The Tonda PF Sport Chronograph in rose gold sandstone reflects our pursuit of essential beauty in watchmaking," said Guido Terreni, CEO of Parmigiani Fleurier. "It merges mechanical excellence, through a high-frequency chronograph calibre, with the informal elegance of a summer lifestyle."
The watch's dial showcases Parmigiani Fleurier's expertise in guilloché craftsmanship, featuring the distinctive Triangular Nail pattern that enhances light reflection. Hand-applied 18-carat rose gold appliques with black luminescent coating ensure optimal legibility, while the overall design maintains the relaxed sophistication that defines the Tonda PF Sport collection.

Zenith’s summer dream watch ends epic Surfer collaboration
Zenith and Time+Tide complete surfer trilogy with white ceramic masterpiece
Skyline skeleton surfer ceramic blue background

Zenith and Time+Tide have completed their celebrated "Surfer Trilogy" with the release of the Defy Skyline Skeleton White Surfer Ceramic, marking the third and final collaboration between the Swiss manufacturer and the Australian watch media company.
The 100-piece limited edition follows the success of previous collaborations: the micro-blasted titanium Defy Classic Skeleton Night Surfer in 2021 and the Defy Skyline Skeleton Night Surfer El Primero in 2023. Both earlier releases sold out quickly, establishing this partnership as one of the watch industry's most successful ongoing collaborations.
The new White Surfer Ceramic maintains the signature blue gradient openworked dial concept that appears across all three editions while introducing a fresh summer aesthetic. The 41mm white ceramic case offers scratch resistance and ultra-light comfort, making it suitable for beach activities with 10 ATM water resistance.
"With this third chapter in our collaboration, we're not just continuing a story, we're elevating it," said Benoît de Clerck, CEO of Zenith. "Each edition has deepened our creative dialogue, and this new release is the boldest expression yet of what we can achieve together."
The timepiece features a gradient blue dial that transitions from darker blue at the top to light blue at the bottom. The bridges adopt Zenith's five-pointed star design filled with Super-LumiNova, a feature previously seen only in the original Night Surfer model.
Powering the watch is the skeletonized automatic El Primero 3620 SK caliber, rendered in matching blue tones. The high-frequency movement beats at 5Hz and offers approximately 55 hours of power reserve. Its 1/10th second hand is driven directly from the escapement, maintaining Zenith's chronograph heritage.
"There's a huge risk in trying for a trilogy when the first two collabs have been so popular," noted Andrew McUtchen, founder of Time+Tide. "But when we saw the prototype of an 'inverted' Night Surfer, in brushed white ceramic, we just had to make it happen."
The watch includes both an integrated white ceramic bracelet and a white patterned rubber strap. Zenith's quick strap-change mechanism allows tool-free switching between options, enhancing versatility for different activities.
The Defy Skyline Skeleton White Surfer Ceramic represents a significant departure from the darker titanium finishes of previous collaborations, embracing a lighter, summer-focused aesthetic while maintaining the technical excellence that defined the series.
The limited edition will be available through Time+Tide, authorized Zenith retailers worldwide, and Zenith's physical and online boutiques. Given the rapid sellout history of previous Surfer editions, collectors are expected to act quickly when the watch becomes available.
With this release, Zenith and Time+Tide conclude what has become one of the most successful ongoing collaborations in contemporary watchmaking, spanning four years and three distinct timepieces that redefined collaborative watch design.
