Original Penguin Releases Safari Collection for Spring

We are at the end of January and whether you’ve begun piecing together your Spring wardrobe or not, we’ve got just the cop for you.

Suburban sportswear company Original Penguin has announced the release of its SP17 RetroSport Safari Collection which blends iconic Serengeti patterns and vintage sport appeal right to your city.

The active wear collection stays true to Original Penguin’s playful heritage of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. With retro feels, rugged fabrics, thoughtful details, and a killer color palate, the release caters to an active lifestyle, but isn’t limited to one, as its superb comfortability makes for a truly enticing fashion addition for any fanciers.

Their new collection will consist of three mainline deliveries starting January 25th, the second on February 25th, and the third on March 25th. These releases will also feature the return of Original Penguin’s Blue Line (which will be sold exclusively online at Saks Fifth). The first delivery, along with the Blue Line, hit stores at Saks Fifth Avenue Wednesday and will be available on their website soon. So, what are you waiting for? Creative, classic collections fly off the shelves these days.

Without further adieu, here are some peaks at the collection:

Inspired by the styles of original icons like Arnold Palmer, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, the first delivery is highlighted with modern updates to the retro classics. It marks the return of the Original polo in a variety of eye-catching colorways and styles with the Earl, the Daddy, and the Jack. And if polos aren’t your thing, the collection is teeming with long- and short-sleeved button downs draped in sophisticated patterns like gingham and birdseye, as well as a variety of bomber jackets and tees.

The second delivery of the season delves into the Safari more, with argyles patterns and fantastic color ways in samba reds and dark sapphires. Lightweight outerwear is a centerfold to this delivery and and they’re extremely stylish. Their hydro jacket exposes a hidden penguin print when it contacts water (perfect for spring showers) and the Original Track Jacket pays homage by mixing the best color blocking from the 80’s and 90’s, with the fresh, contemporary scent of spring.

For the third delivery of the spring collection, Original Penguin gets wild with vibrant animal print wovens, swimming trunks, outerwear and more. Burnt olive and mirage grey hints are reminiscent of the Serengeti blend with tasteful vegetation and animal prints. But don’t be weary, Original Penguin did a magnificent job at using simple patterns and artwork to make sure you’re not thrown to the lions of the city’s fashion critics.
