March 26 is Nike Air Max Day – Here’s A Preview of What to Expect

March 26th is a pretty big day for the “Just Do It” brand.

March 26, 1987 was the day the Nike Air Max sneaker appeared on shelves, and it made one hell of a first impression. The phenomenon behind the sneaker was the visible gel cushioning that revolutionized the future of footwear.

The Air Max immediately became a cult classic among sneakerheads and hypebeasts alike and, because of its instant stardom, Nike continues to deliver new, more innovative interpretations of the sneaker to this day.

March 26, 2017 marks the 30th anniversary of Nike’s Air superiority and with it comes the release of several redefined Air Max sneakers to kick off the celebration.

In preparation for the big day, Nike is flexing its muscles by pulling all of the advertising stunts to build up the hype. Just released earlier this week, Nike is hosting four “Sneakeasy” pop-up locations for this year’s Air Max Day in Canada and the United States.

The New York location will operate through the rest of this week. It is located at 45 Grand Street, and you can book your spot here. Toronto and Chicago will open on the 25th, and the Los Angeles location will be open on the 25th and 26th. The one caveat to the “Sneakeasy” in these locations is that Nike is hush-hush about where they’ll be taking place. Getting a ticket to the event won’t be easy, but there are ways to hit the Air Max lotto.

Through March 25, the Nike Air Max Bus, a mobile experience celebrating 30 years of Air Max, will hit the streets of Toronto. The bus houses a collection of Air Max’s greatest hits and a timeline of the Air Max silhouette. You can win a ticket to the Toronto “Sneakeasy” via the bus, so keep your eyes peeled for kicks on wheels Air Max bus, sneakerheads.

Looking to gain access at one of the other locations? Be sure to follow their Twitter accounts for more info on how you can be a part of Air Max Day – New York City (@nikenyc), Los Angeles (@nikeLA), and Chicago (@NikeChicago).

L.L. Bean Collection Japan Studio Outdoor

L.L. Bean has been a go-to for all those who love to shed the comforts of the indoor world and head out into the wild unknown to experience the great outdoors for over a century. Of course, in that time, they have grown beyond a simple wilderness outfitter in Maine to become one of the biggest brands in the country, supplying everything from outerwear and fishing gear to camping and workwear. In 1992, an influx of Japanese shoppers made their way to the Maine home of L.L. Bean in search of their coveted styles and took them back to their home country. That sparked an expansion to the far east, where they established the brand's first store outside the state. Now, after thirty-two years, the L.L. Bean Japanese Collection returned to the States for the first time in pop-ups located in both New York City and Los Angeles.

CAT Apparel has been the go-to for the hardest working people for 100 years, now they celebrate it
CAT Centennial navy tee

Men have been building the world since the industrialized society took hold and grew to encompass empires. Everything from the pyramids to skyscrapers is the product of ingenuity and grit, all on the backs of the hardest-working men in the world. Since 1925, they have been one of the leading manufacturers of heavy equipment across the globe. From defense work and engines in World War II to building every major city in America, they are a name every engineer and construction company trusts. Because of that, the name expanded to workwear, becoming one of the first names you see on the men and women actually building the structures we use every single day. To celebrate the 100th anniversary, the brand launched the Caterpillar Centennial Collection, a number of items including graphic tees and articles inspired by the very machines that inspired them. Whether you follow the trends and want to embrace the workwear aesthetic or you are a fan of the brand, these are the perfect fit.
