When Asics dabbles in a new collaboration, you know it will be worth your time. In their newest collaborative collection, the athletic company is partnering with Vandy the Pink and atmos, a longstanding partner, for new designs inspired by everyone’s favorite summertime dessert. With a collection aptly named “Banana Split,” this trio is ready to launch a new pair of sneakers inspired by two very important hues in this ice cream and banana dessert. Adding a bit of fun to a traditional Asics sneaker design, the ‘Banana Split’ release is the perfect way to add a pastel hue to your summer wardrobe. Combining some of the brand’s harsher elements with softer hues, you can turn your everyday athletic sneakers into something brighter and more lively.

The trio’s new design, taking on the iconic Gel-Nimbus 10.1, is a sweet piece of footwear design. With two new flavors (or shades), the Gel-Nimbus takes on the colorways “Banana” and “Strawberry.” Each colorway takes the hue from its respective flavors and uses the traditional silver metallic Asics overlays to add some edgier contrast. Both designs come with two-tone midsoles with Gel cushioning and chocolate brown accents. Vandy the Pink’s classic flower emblem is visible via tags on the lateral heel, while co-branding is on the insoles. The shoes come with two lace options: classic rope laces or fuzzy laces. Adding the finishing touch is a co-branded shoe box embodying the three brands’ unique partnership. While the “Banana” shade was previously seen at Atmoscon, both shades are getting a global release on May 30 via Vandy the Pink and Atmos’ webstores.

I ran 50 miles on roads and trails—how the Craft Nordlite Ultra 2 performed
Is the Craft Nordlite Ultra 2 the only running shoe you need?
Craft Nordlite Ultra 2

When it comes to shoes, runners have almost too many choices. There are daily trainers, speed shoes, trail shoes, plated racers, and more. High-end models start around $150, so building up a “quiver” of footwear requires $300, $450, or more. That can make the simple, refreshing act of running an expensive hobby.

However, some manufacturers produce road-to-trail shoes that can handle both roads and trails, as well as everything in between. One such model is the Craft Nordlite Ultra 2, which features a supercritical midsole and a lugged outsole. I tested it on the roads and trails of Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley to answer the question: Is this the only running shoe you need? Read on for my take.

While its design might not seem drastically different from other New Balance sneakers, the 992 silhouette has earned its status as one of the most popular in the brand’s lineup. First released in 2006 to commemorate the brand’s 100th anniversary, the 992 gained notoriety as the go-to sneaker for the late Steve Jobs. As part of his uniform, the 992 became a go-to practical shoe for many. While Steve Jobs was keen on the sneaker’s grey shade, the newest release of the sneaker sets out to give this silhouette a moodier feel. Not straying too far from its traditional look, the latest 992 will feature a darker colorway, making it a perfect option for those seeking a comfortable shoe later in the year.
