BMW previews the Concept F 450 GS mid-range adventure bike

An adventure-style, off-road capable-bike in the 450 cc mid-range class

BMW Motorrad recently previewed the BMW Concept F 450 GS, a near-production version of a new BMW off-road capable motorcycle class intended to extend accessibility to riders looking for a mid-range bike. Because it is a concept vehicle, details may change before production.

Why the BMW Concept F 450 GS matters

“The BMW Concept F 450 GS carries the characteristic DNA of the GS family,” says Alexander Buckan, Head of BMW Motorrad Design. “We have succeeded in designing the Concept with the sporty dynamic appeal of our large off-road icon in a particularly compact form.”

BMW’s design target was to meet the UK and European restrictions for the A2 license motorcycle class. Drivers at least 19 years of age with an A2 license can ride motorcycles with a maximum of 47 horsepower and a minimum of 385 pounds.

BMW doesn’t currently sell an adventure-style, off-road capable bike in the 450 cc mid-range class in the U.S., so it would be a good fit for riders who want more than a G 310 GS urban bike but not one of the larger 800, 900, 1250, or 1300 cc dual-mode adventure models.

Major features of the Concept F 450 GS

BMW developed a new, twin-cylinder inline motor for the Concept F 450 GS. The engine has a unique-to-BMW offset ignition which the company says produces high torque even with low RPMs. BMW drew on experience from rally and enduro technology to develop a fully adjustable upside-down front fork and a rear shock with load-dependent damping.

The bike has a BMW ABS Pro braking system, configurable riding modes, a 6.5-inch TFT display, and BMW Connectivity software. A production version of the Concept F 450 GS is planned for 2025.

The second race of the 2025 F1 schedule, the 2025 Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix, is this weekend. The main Grand Prix race on Sunday will start at 3:00 a.m. ET, which is 3:00 p.m. local time in Shanghai.
This is the second race in the 2025 F1 season. It's also one of just six this year that includes a Sprint race. Sprint races are exciting for fans because they offer more racing action and allow drivers and teams to earn extra Championship points. Points are awarded to drivers finishing in the top eight positions of the Sprint race.

The weekend schedule started with a Free Practice session on Friday, followed by Sprint Qualifying later. Saturday featured the Sprint race, where drivers could earn up to eight Championship points. A few hours after the Sprint race, the standard Qualifying event determined the starting positions for the Grand Prix.
F1 2025 Chinese Grand Prix: the race track

The Shanghai International Circuit, built in 2003, hosted its first Grand Prix in 2004. The event was paused due to COVID-19 and only returned last year. The circuit is 3.39 miles long, and the race consists of 56 laps, totaling 185.6 miles. Michael Schumacher set the record for the fastest lap at 1 minute, 32.238 seconds in 2004, which may be broken Sunday.
The racetrack was repaved this year, making it slicker than last year's surface. It is quite different from the Melbourne track in last week's Australian GP. The Shanghai circuit has two DRS zones, two extremely long straightaways, some long sweeping turns, and a notably sharp, needle-like turn. The long straightaways are located between turns 13 and 14 and between turns 16 and 17, making this track especially interesting for racing.

The first of the 2025 F1 Grand Prix schedule's 24 races is in Melbourne, Australia, this weekend. The Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Australian Grand Prix 2025 will run for three days from March 14 to 16, Australia time.

There's a 15-hour time difference between Melbourne and New York, so the first race event, Practice 1, begins on March 13. Juggling time zones may be a hassle, especially if you want to watch the lead-up events, but the excitement is building for this season with at least four of the ten teams in serious contention for the Championship. 2025 BMW C 400 GT premium midsize scooter updated with braking and stability tech

The 2025 BMW C 400 GT will be available in U.S. dealerships in early 2025.

Rider safety and comfort were the goals when BMW Motorrad upgraded the BMW C 400 GT for 2025. BMW's premium midsize scooter gains standard ABS Pro with Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), and Engine Brake Control (EBC). The new model has several comfort and convenience updates, but the braking and handling upgrades contribute the most to rider and scooter stability and control.
How the new tech features help

The BMW C 400 GT scooter is the right size for everyday riding, including commuting. Its 34-hp 350-cc single-cylinder water-cooled engine has an electronic throttle and a CVT transmission. The 80-mph maximum speed is fine for short highway runs, but this scooter type isn't intended for long-distance touring.
