Worn Out Wednesday – Jeff Barrett

Today we speak to Jeff Barrett, the CEO of Status Creative, a leader in Social Media engagement.

Originally born in Michigan, I returned to my home state in 2010 from California and have been there since. Living in Grand Rapids I have had the opportunity to stay close to family but still be globally relevant. Location isn’t everything anymore. Ideas can start from anywhere.

Every person in their career has an opportunity, an opening, a window to become an entrepreneur. I took mine. After eight years in communications and social media, I capitalized on a good amount of attention and buzz to chart a new path.

PR, much like any industry, is dominated by a few great companies at the top. I have never intended to compete with them. With the emergence of social and especially digital media we have been able to concentrate on doing one thing really well…instead of a bunch of things at half speed. The goal is simple. We empower brands to create their own media, their own attention and depend less on advertising and media which are always unknown variables.

And here he speaks about his personal style:

Jeans: Buffalo Jeans. A different kind for each occasion.

Shirts: Graphic T’s from Buy Me Brunch, Random stuff from H&M, Dress shirts from Banana Republic.

Pants: Brightly colored pants from Express.

Suits: Whatever they wear in the show “Suits.”I just walk in wherever I go, Google that and tell someone to make me look like that. Saint Laurent and Kenzo are both great when it comes to suits.

Shoes: Hush Puppies Oxfords, Sperry Topsiders, Custom Nike SB Air’s by Stefan Janoski.

Accessories: Breitling Super Ocean watch, “Love is The Movement”bracelet from charity To Write Love On Her Arms.

Outerwear: The classic H&M zip hoodie, some super cozy cardigans from Express. I never wear coats. I just layer.
