United Airlines has added a dedicated dining area to its seven-year-old Polaris Lounge at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). The airline unveiled the 1,500-square-foot space on Wednesday, and it opens to the public today. The addition gives the lounge at EWR new pizzazz, offering travelers a luxurious space to recover and enjoy fine food.

As reported by The Points Guy, the new dining area accommodates 60 patrons. Tones of brown, navy, and tan create a calming atmosphere. Seating choices cater to various travelers, with solo tables positioned along the windows that offer a view of New York City and the C2 and C3 piers of Terminal C. Two-top tables line the rest of the space and can be joined for multiple customers. Other design details include frosted mirrors, gold sconces, and pleasant lighting on the ceiling and walls.

The addition of the dining room grows the Polaris Lounge at EWR to more than 30,000 square feet, putting it in second place behind the airline’s business class lounge at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). All menu items are à la carte, ordered via a waiter. Menu updates coinciding with the opening include lump crab cakes and a vegan signature burger featuring an Impossible patty.

Aaron McMillan, United’s Managing Director of Hospitality Programs, said: “Newark offers business class travelers ample opportunity to travel across the Atlantic, and we’re excited to offer them more room to dine before or after their long-haul flights. For years, we’ve been investing in our club and lounge portfolio at Newark, and it’s our first hub to fully reflect our new designs and amenities.”

JetBlue is leaving this Florida hub
Miami, Florida

This past Saturday, JetBlue announced it will cease flying out of Miami International Airport (MIA). The decision was purely logical, as the airline had noted subpar financial results. The change shouldn’t be too disruptive, as JetBlue only flies once or twice daily between Miami and Boston. However, travelers still have all summer to jet between the two East Coast destinations, as the switch doesn’t take place until September 3.
