This fall, Haspel turns 105 years old. To commemorate the milestone, the iconic men’s brand is collaborating with four heritage brands that share a similar focus on small-batch craft, U.S. manufacturing and refined, contemporary style.
Haspel has teamed up with Terrapin Stationers, Mulholland, Brooklyn Watches, and AO Eyewear to develop a collection of limited-edition essentials inspired by the Haspel man. Known primarily for suiting and sportswear, the brand has never ventured into accessories, but Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos, founders of men’s brand Shipley & Halmos and the designers of Haspel, felt it was the perfect opportunity to do so.
“With this anniversary, we wanted to think about the Haspel of the future and how we might round out this guy’s life and wardrobe,” said Halmos. “We also wanted to make sure our collaborators reflected the Haspel man’s sense of humor, style and confidence.” Haspel, known as the originator of the seersucker suit, was founded in 1909 in New Orleans. The brand re-launched in the spring of 2014 under the direction of designers Shipley & Halmos.
These collaborations represent those traits perfectly: from a beautiful, hand-made watch and a classic pair of aviators, to a set of cheekily-inscribed stationary and a timeless leather tote. All must-haves for the modern gent.
