The James Brand Unsheathes Its First Fixed-Blade Knife

The James Brand

Inspired by the Hell Gap projectile point arrowhead found in Platte County, Wyoming, The James Brand Hell Gap fixed-blade knife is as rugged, enduring, and beautiful as the environment from which its inspiration was found.

If you’re a frequent reader of The Manual or an avid knife enthusiast, you’re probably familiar with what The James Brand has to offer. If you aren’t, the Portland, Oregon-based EDC (everyday carry) fanatics have been dreaming up new designs for practical, minimal tools made with premium materials in order to aid and expose the adventurer inside all of us.

Although the fixed-blade knife design is a first for The James Brand, its dedication to functionality, durability, and portability is still palpable. A fixed-blade is designed to be more durable and effective for the difficult tasks that switchblades just can’t seem to tackle. Besides, many desire everyday carry tools that surpass the little trinkets that fit into a pocket.

The James Brand Hell Gap Knife

Whether you need a cutting companion for your extended backpacking venture on the Pacific Crest Trail, a tool for slicing garlic and onions for a backyard cookout, or need to gut your freshly caught quarry, The James Brand Hell Gap knife will cover all of your necessities. But it’s the Hell Gap’s streamlined construction that really makes us geek out. The everyday carry knife is big enough to do quality work in the field or in the backyard, yet small enough to be stored everywhere from your rig in a glove box to a carrier in a camping container. The knife is crafted with crucible s35vn stainless steel, which offers an optimal lightweight feel, great edge retention, and lasting corrosion resistance. The handle boasts scales made of canvas micarta that provides an insanely confident grip in all conditions.

All you have to do is choose between two designs: cerakote black with black micarta or stonewashed stainless with green micarta. Both versions are presented with a Kydex sheath — rip-stop nylon — and a handy paracord lanyard. Finally, all of this is backed by The James Brand’s limited lifetime warranty, so there are no worries when it comes to premature wear.

A few other recently released knives we’re digging: The Gold Victorinox Swiss Army Knife and the Gerber Fastball.

The pre-owned luxury watch market is down, but prices for these 2 Rolexes are up
Rolex GMT Master II Pepsi

According to the Bloomberg Subdial Watch Index, which tracks the 50 most traded luxury watches, the pre-owned luxury watch market moved down around 0.1% last month, marking the sign of a patient market that wants more. This isn't necessarily surprising —the index has fallen 8.7% in the past year. But there are a couple of Rolex watches that are bucking the trend: the Rolex Starbucks and the Rolex Pepsi, which gained 3.2% and 3.3%, respectively.

The overall stagnation of the watch market can have various factors, including anticipation for newer releases. External factors like economic and geopolitical conflicts have also affected the way consumers choose to purchase watches. Prices soared during the pandemic, so a leveling out at some point was expected.
What are the ‘Starbucks’ and ‘Pepsi’ watches from Rolex?
