If you’re planning a trip to Europe this summer, finding the perfect beach to relax and explore is probably high on your list. Telegraph Travel’s destination experts have done the hard work for you, compiling a list of 40 of Europe’s best beaches. Instead of ranking them from best to worst, they grouped the beaches by country, spotlighting standout shores across the continent.

Heading to Spain? Don’t miss Bolonia, Andalusia, a stunning beach famous for its vast sand dune. Climb the dune at sunset, and on a clear day, you can even see Morocco across the water.

If France is on your itinerary, Plage du Coz-Pors in Brittany is a top pick. This quiet beach is dotted with large rocks and offers kayak and paddleboard rentals, plus a handful of charming restaurants, all just an hour’s drive from the ferry port of Roscoff.

For Greece lovers, Xerocambos on Crete’s southeastern tip promises crystal-clear waters and fewer crowds, thanks to its remote location away from the island’s main tourist spots.

Even the Nordics, not usually famous for beaches, made the cut. Sweden’s Sandhammaren, a protected nature reserve in Österlen on the southeastern tip of Skåne province, offers unspoiled landscapes. Meanwhile, Denmark’s Blokhus Beach also earns praise for its wide shores and relaxed vibe.

A secret slice of France is now open in Rosewood London’s courtyard
This London terrace is serving up the chicest cocktails of the summer
La Terrasse at Rosewood London

This summer, Rosewood London and GREY GOOSE® Vodka unveil La Terrasse by GREY GOOSE, an alfresco retreat bringing the charm of a French summer to the city. Set in the hotel’s Belle Époque-style courtyard, La Terrasse offers guests relaxed lunches, sundowners, and cocktails in a stylish outdoor space.

The design is as refined as the drinks menu: crisp white parasols sway gently overhead, while deep blue seating, crafted by French designer Frédéric Sofia and inspired by the Jardin du Luxembourg, offers a stylish nod to Paris’s iconic park life. With elegant shutters, matching awnings, and greenery creating a sense of intimacy, the terrace feels less like a hotel courtyard and more like a hidden corner of Saint-Germain. An indoor dining area for up to 60 guests complements the alfresco space, making it a perfect spot to enjoy the taste of France in London.

From Hendrix to Cobain: A self-guided Seattle rock pilgrimage
From quiet parks to iconic venues, this Seattle pilgrimage traces the sound, spirit, and stories of the city’s most influential rock musicians
Raul Mercado standing next to Jimi Hendrix Sculpture in Seattle

Seattle musicians not only shaped a genre, but they also shaped the Emerald City itself. Alternative rock and grunge were largely born within its boundaries, and I spent a day retracing where that legacy resides, from quiet park benches to world-class exhibits. This is not a typical tour. It's a path for those ready to don their best '90s attire and explore the messy beauty of the spirits of rock and grunge. These iconic memorials are spread all over the city, with a few in the suburbs, but you can fit them all into a single day trip. Having a car helps since some locations aren't easily accessible by foot or public transportation. End the night at The Crocodile, a historic grunge venue. The lights are low, the volume’s high, and it's where the echoes of the city's musical heritage still resonate today.
