Worn Out Wednesdays – Brenner Thomas

The ubiquitous PR men of Manhattan! Always on the go, never without their (often times multiple) phones and always smiling while putting out fires.

Brenner Thomas is one such man, although the way he handles clients, rarely is there a fire to put out unless it is part of their store opening. An Account Supervisor at LaForce + Stevens he works exclusively on men’s accessories for brands such as Perry Ellis, Oliver Spencer, Omega Watches, Barracuda, Woolrich, Woolen Mills and Woolrich John Rich & Bros.

Born in Palm Beach County Florida, (the most shark attacks and golf course in the country!), Brenner moved to New York in 2007 and worked on our side of the field in fashion journalism at DNR and WWD and then took a leap of faith into the PR side of things in 2010.

Here he explains his method to his sartorial madness.

I’ve been told I wear the same thing all the time! But I love a comfortable button down oxford Brooks Brothers Black Fleece; they are so thick they could almost stand on their own. I have loads of Gant since I work with them and I love them as well as the ones Michael Bastian makes for them as well. Those Brooks Brothers non-iron shirts are so genius. They look great right out of the dryer. Dockers chinos the alpha fit – I have them in six colors and you can wear them with Keds or a dress loafer. They are very transitional.

Paul Smith shoes are a big extravagance but they are so amazing. I have a pair of brogues and suede lace ups with different color laces.

But when I have to dress up for clients I wear patterned sport coats from Gant, which lends a very 50s feel. Then for suits I wear only Z Zegna. They fit well, they last and they won’t break the bank.

My style is pretty classic and driven by the standard ideals of American sportswear and prep. There is definitely an athletic side to me too. I love my Nike trainers I wear from work to the gym.

When it’s colder out I am in a flannel by Gant or Double RL, khakis by Dockers, Boots by Alden.

I am a big Nike fan for the gym. The fit is great and styling is well done. I wear vintage tees and for yoga I wear Lulu Lemon because the quality is so on par. You really notice it after a year when the elastic is still good and the fabric is still stable.

My dad is a pack rat and hangs on to everything he owns. He still has VHS tapes with cellophane on them! He has great embroidered pants, vintage Hermes ties and handsome old belts.  My prized possession is a weekender Bottega Venetta pre Thomas Meier that my mom found in the attic. I use it all summer. A real classic leather piece.

My look is a lot Thurston Howell, a bit of the Professor and a tad of Ginger thrown in!

How To Find the Best Men’s Workout Clothes, According To 3 Designers
Tracksmith

There are enough reasons not to work out. The fit and feel of your workout clothes shouldn’t be one of them.

Alas, the athletic wear industry seems a bit oblivious to this fact. Off-the-rack workout clothes such as running shorts, leggings, tanks, and even hoodies are all too prone to fit issues such as awkwardly placed seams, unconsidered contours, and unforgiving fabrics. There’s nothing worse than being interrupted, just as you’re getting into the zone, by a chafing seam in your shorts or a t-shirt freighted with twenty minutes’ worth of sweat. Unless, perhaps, it’s hitting the locker room and realizing that your leggings have bagged out in back, giving you that “just dropped a load in my pants” look.

Sarong? But So Right; Meet the Brokini
Brokinis

Calling all Chads, Brads and any other self-proclaimed lives of the party. There’s a new must-have swimsuit for you to “send it” in whatever’s left of this summer while icing your homies. It’s not a speedo, nor a board short, but an entirely new category of men’s swimwear that perfectly pairs with your mango Juul. Enter: the Brokini. The Brokini is a cheeky one shoulder statement item that not-so-subtly shows off your quarantine abs and … well, let’s leave the rest up to the imagination.

The Brokini comes in two playful prints: Bromingo and Fineapple. It’s the kitschy weekend closet addition, amid your Monday through Friday Patagonia vest and khakis, otherwise known as the midtown uniform.  For only $40 you’ll be able to attract the vulgar attention of your dreams and continue to “disappoint your parents” as the brand so proudly boasts, though it looks like a thorough manscaping is required to pull off this look.
