What to Wear: Snow Day

Brrrrrrr…if you’re on the East Coast right now you’ve probably just experienced several inches of snow and below freezing temperatures. Don’t let that snow day get in the way of your daily routine! Although most of us will probably be sticking indoors if we can help it, those of you who need to go outdoors just need to dress correctly. Pile on the layers! Make sure to wear long underwear like Uniqlo Heattech of Under Armour, then put on a thick shirt and pants — flannel and corduroy will do. Don’t forget to put on warm wools socks, insulated boots and warm parka. Most important of all, have all your accessories ready to go! A warm hat, gloves and scarf can mean all the difference between staying warm and freezing. If all else fails, you can always go for one of those self-heating hand warmers.

What to Wear Hiking: Menswear That Works On and Off the Trail
What to wear camping

When hiking and backpacking in the outdoors you're going to want performance clothing designed for active adventures. I'm talking about gear specifically designed for keeping you comfortable outside. What's so special about outdoor clothing? For one, the fabric. These garments are made from lightweight, breathable, and quick-drying materials like nylon, merino wool, and polyester. You won't find any cotton here, folks!

As the saying goes, cotton kills. Why? Because cotton dries slowly and doesn't insulate as well when wet. Pair this with the cooler temperatures of spring and fall and you've got the potential for hypothermia. But another great reason for these fabrics is that as we exercise we sweat. Synthetic materials dry quickly leaving you more comfortable and preventing some of the discomfort brought on by damp clothing. Does anyone really want to wear a sweaty tee shirt all day?

Learn How to Wear a Hat and Have It Sized Properly

As the sun slowly but surely creeps back into our lives after a long winter, you might well be in possession of a stylish new hat — and you might be wondering how to wear a hat the right way as a result of that investment. It's a pressing question on the minds of stylish guys everywhere, especially as so many of us re-enter the world and start dressing again in ways that allow you to rock a hat (so, beyond just cozy sweatpants and a T-shirt).

When we talk hats, we're not quite talking about a baseball cap (although there are tons of hat styles for men that work in plenty of situations). We're thinking of more commonly found, slightly dressier hats, like the boater, the derby, or the Panama hat — the wool flat cap is an excellent choice for colder months, too. Adjust your hat game to the season at hand, we say.
