Eight Leather Jackets to Get Right Now

When winter slams the country with enough snow to set records, it’s only natural to think you’re done with short-jacket dressing. But that’s not necessarily the case. Consider the leather jacket. Not only is it the one versatile layer that fills the wardrobe gap between heavy outerwear and a light blazer, it never goes out of style—even in warmer weather. Some of you are even lucky enough to live in more moderate climates and sport leather all year-round. What’s more, biker details look set to be an even bigger trend next season. Here, then, to help you get the most bang for your buck and the right style (this season the more aggressive the better, though we also say suede, shearling, varsity and black jackets are every bit on point) are eight affordable leather jackets to consider on this Cyber Monday. Wear them to work, the bar, on your day off or simply whenever your look demands a bit of a tough edge.

1. Heritage moto look jacket in washed leather, Cole Haan, $359.95.

2. Hoodie bomber, River Island, $150.

3. Downtown look bomber, Oak, $390.

4. Double-breasted jacket in suede, The Kooples, about $365. Also check US store locations.

5. “Perfecto” style, H&M, $299.

6. “Varsity” style, Abercrombie & Fitch, $300.

7. Faux shearling-lined jacket, Zara, $118.30.

8. Classic G-1 flight jacket, Alpha Industries, $365.

Note: prices may in fact be lower because of Cyber Monday discounts.

If you’re brave enough to step into a shopping mall or department store this time of year, you know that it’s sale time and the bargain hunters are prowling the aisles with deadly efficiency — and with good reason! Even with the help of years of buying experience, the latest algorithms, and high consumer confidence ratings over the holidays, every store still ends up with a dearth of product. It’s the “most wonderful time of the year” for getting a really great deal.

Coats are always infamous for landing in stores late in the year, just in time for holiday gifting, but before it really gets cold. Consequently, you can usually score a great deal on a new piece that will, with a little care, last you well into next fall and winter. We’ve pulled a couple of pieces that reflect industry trends for fall 2020 (yes, the big stores have already placed their orders for next year), but that you’ll be able to get for a steal.

In the realm of luxury, Hermes is a distinguished name known for (amongst other things) its collaboration with Apple in creating exquisite Apple Watch bands. In recent days, Hermes appeared to remove all leather Apple Watch 8 bands from its site, sparking intrigue and raising questions about the underlying reasons; many even wondered if Hermes and Apple were ending their partnership. All Apple Watch Series 9 bands are listed on the Hermes website – including leather bands. Still, Apple isn't selling the leather bands on its website, and there's an excellent reason why.

A gorgeous timepiece in honor of a true classic
TAG Heuer Porsche watches on wheel

There are fewer sports cars as iconic and persistent as the Porsche 911. Performance has improved, and some features like natural aspiration and air cooling have gone the way of the dinosaurs -- but at its core (and in its styling), the 911 is pretty much the same rear engine beauty that Porsche unveiled back in September 1963. It is currently celebrating its 60th anniversary, as is a much-loved piece of chronography -- the TAG Heuer Carrera.

So it’s only fitting that TAG Heuer, an equally iconic Swiss watchmaker with strong racing links, has partnered up with Porsche to commemorate the German company’s flagship motor. The “Carrera Chronosprint x Porsche” is a beautiful chronograph and a fantastic bit of engineering. Its styling manages to cram in more references to the 911’s 60-year history than we can count without looking garish or overstated.
