In collaboration with Carl F. Bucherer, Hodinkee has introduced a highly exclusive timepiece that’s a masterclass in combining a vintage aesthetic with the modern watch industry. The Carl F. Bucherer Heritage Worldtimer Limited Edition for Hodinkee pays homage to the 1950s world timer made for those with a zest for travel. Taken from the Carl F. Bucherer archives, the Carl F. Bucherer Heritage Worldtimer features a slim 39 mm stainless steel case along with a COSC-certified chronometer.

The Carl F. Bucherer brand became an icon in the Swiss watchmaking industry after the man himself opened his first watch boutique in Lucerne, Switzerland in 1888. The original world timer design was a pioneer in featuring a second time zone indication, and the new Heritage Worldtimer Limited Edition pays homage to this with a modern interpretation.

Features and technical specifications

Other features include a sapphire case back in which you can view the Carl F. Bucherer automatic caliber A2020, a 55-hour power reserve, and a unique peripheral winding rotor that’s positioned on the same plane as the movement. The real draw for travelers will be the semi-matte external 24-hour ring full of the world’s most well-known cities, including the watch industry famous Lucerne, Hong Kong, Sydney, and New York. So, no matter where in the world you decide to strap on the Carl F. Bucherer Heritage Worldtimer, you will always have the time right at your fingertips.

How can the watch wearer check the time in different cities?

Carl F. Bucherer remained faithful to the original Heritage Worldtimer by keeping the same simple way to check the time in different cities. To find the local time in another place, the wearer needs to align the city ring by rotating it until the hour in the current location matches the corresponding 24-hour indicator. Once that is set, you can read the time for a city by simply using the 24-hour ring.

Aesthetics

The case is just 10.25 mm thick, making this watch entirely wearable, fitting under most button-down shirt sleeves or suit jackets. The dial is finished with a matte-varnished blue reminiscent of oceans the world over, accented with engraved rhodium hour markers. The two-tone dial is complemented by two different strap choices: a multi-row stainless steel bracelet or a gray Saffiano leather strap. It’s equipped with a quick-release system, meaning you can wear the steel bracelet to the office and swap it out for the leather strap on weekends.

The outer ring will surely take wearers back to a time when iPhones and screens didn’t exist; a simpler time, if you will. The vibe is all about the days when air travel used to be glamorous and people would actually talk to each other. A time when people had no idea what time it was unless they glanced down at their watch, and frequent travelers needed a timepiece with multiple time zones.

Timex Intrepid Reissue

Timex breathes life into the 1995 Intrepid watch and gives it a modern touch. Given that this Timex model was favored by John F. Kennedy Jr., it became popular in the '90s—and now it's back. To mark a special feat in its history (the 30th anniversary of the model), the brand upgraded the model but preserved the original 1990s design.

One of the watch's most striking features is the Indiglo mechanism, a light that makes it easier to read the dial in dark environments. Luminova hour markers were still in development in the early ‘90s, so each brand came up with a special mechanism for lighting up the front face. At the 9 o’clock denotation, a huge green pusher turns on the light and adds to the look with its striking hue.

A prop watch turns into a real watch
IWC Ingenieur Automatic 40 Reference IW328908

IWC just presented a new stylish watch, a limited edition Ingenieur Automatic 40, that pays tribute to the upcoming F1 movie, a film that features IWC's branding. As the name hints, the movie’s plotline focuses on F1 motorsports and stars Damson Idris and Brad Pitt as professional F1 drivers. While Brad Pitt’s character is Sonny Hayes, Damson Idris stars as Joshua Pearce. Both characters are in the same F1 team, APXGP, which IWC sponsors. The film will be in theaters on June 27th, 2025.

Since both drivers are under IWC’s wing, Sonny Hayes will be rocking a prop IWC watch inspired by the Ingenieur SL ref. 1832, featuring a stylish green dial. While Sonny Hayes’ watch is a prop, it is the brainchild of Cloister Watch Company and IWC. The first brand deals with bespoke prop watches that closely resemble real watches.
