In collaboration with Carl F. Bucherer, Hodinkee has introduced a highly exclusive timepiece that’s a masterclass in combining a vintage aesthetic with the modern watch industry. The Carl F. Bucherer Heritage Worldtimer Limited Edition for Hodinkee pays homage to the 1950s world timer made for those with a zest for travel. Taken from the Carl F. Bucherer archives, the Carl F. Bucherer Heritage Worldtimer features a slim 39 mm stainless steel case along with a COSC-certified chronometer.

The Carl F. Bucherer brand became an icon in the Swiss watchmaking industry after the man himself opened his first watch boutique in Lucerne, Switzerland in 1888. The original world timer design was a pioneer in featuring a second time zone indication, and the new Heritage Worldtimer Limited Edition pays homage to this with a modern interpretation.

Features and technical specifications

Other features include a sapphire case back in which you can view the Carl F. Bucherer automatic caliber A2020, a 55-hour power reserve, and a unique peripheral winding rotor that’s positioned on the same plane as the movement. The real draw for travelers will be the semi-matte external 24-hour ring full of the world’s most well-known cities, including the watch industry famous Lucerne, Hong Kong, Sydney, and New York. So, no matter where in the world you decide to strap on the Carl F. Bucherer Heritage Worldtimer, you will always have the time right at your fingertips.

How can the watch wearer check the time in different cities?

Carl F. Bucherer remained faithful to the original Heritage Worldtimer by keeping the same simple way to check the time in different cities. To find the local time in another place, the wearer needs to align the city ring by rotating it until the hour in the current location matches the corresponding 24-hour indicator. Once that is set, you can read the time for a city by simply using the 24-hour ring.

Aesthetics

The case is just 10.25 mm thick, making this watch entirely wearable, fitting under most button-down shirt sleeves or suit jackets. The dial is finished with a matte-varnished blue reminiscent of oceans the world over, accented with engraved rhodium hour markers. The two-tone dial is complemented by two different strap choices: a multi-row stainless steel bracelet or a gray Saffiano leather strap. It’s equipped with a quick-release system, meaning you can wear the steel bracelet to the office and swap it out for the leather strap on weekends.

The outer ring will surely take wearers back to a time when iPhones and screens didn’t exist; a simpler time, if you will. The vibe is all about the days when air travel used to be glamorous and people would actually talk to each other. A time when people had no idea what time it was unless they glanced down at their watch, and frequent travelers needed a timepiece with multiple time zones.

Street artist Wotto brings his colorful chaos to Maurice Lacroix's new limited edition AIKON
Maurice Lacroix watch on yellow background

Swiss watchmaker Maurice Lacroix, founded in 1975, is known for producing luxury timepieces at a fair price. They have now introduced the AIKON Automatic Wotto Limited Edition. This watch turns the well-known AIKON into a canvas for street art by British artist Wotto (Craig Watkins) in a unique partnership limited to 1,000 units.

This particular watch has an interesting past. In 2021, Hungarian artist @Timeengraver changed an AIKON watch on his own and posted it on Instagram. Maurice Lacroix noticed the work and began the Urban Tribe series. Two years later, @Timeengraver made another watch with Wotto’s drawings, which led to this official project, marking an exciting watch/artist collaboration.

A world map at night: Laurent Ferrier’s Classic Traveller Globe Night Blue
A beautiful night-time view
Laurent Ferrier Classic Traveller Globe Night Blue

The Laurent Ferrier Classic Traveller Globe Night Blue dial will take your breath away, thanks to the atlas map that’s featured at the center of the front face. For starters, it is quite unique due to the nighttime theme—a representation of the world at night. While numerous watch models have an atlas map, most focus only on the daytime aspect.

Laurent is one of the few brands that executed the nighttime theme with yellow and dark blue color accents. Yellow is quite effective in painting a clear picture of how cities light up at night.
