Mercedes-Benz Refreshes Its GLA Lineup, Adds The Yellow Night Edition

Mercedes-Benz has revealed its refreshed GLA subcompact crossover ahead of this year’s Detroit Motor Show. First introduced in 2013, the GLA helped define the tiny utility vehicle segment with what amounts to a lift kit on an A-Class hatchback.

In the U.S., the GLA is the only way we kinda sorta get the A-Class, as Mercedes-Benz prefers to sell us the CLA subcompact sedan. No one’s really complaining though – the GLA is quirky, and the automotive world always needs more of that.

For the 2018 model year, Mercedes focused on exterior and interior tweaks to keep the GLA appealing among a broadening group of competitors. Redesigned front and rear bumpers, new standard and optional wheel designs, the addition of Canyon Beige paint, and full LED headlights round out the exterior modifications. Inside, an 8.0-inch center display is standard, the instrument cluster has been updated, a rearview camera is standard, Android Auto has been added, and a new Black Ash wood trim replaces Burl Walnut.

As for the GLA45 AMG, the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine pumps out more power than any other 2.0-liter turbo on the market: 375 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission transfers grunt to all four wheels for a blistering 0 to 60 mph spring of 4.3 seconds.

The 2018 GLA45 and CLA45 AMG cars are now available with an AMG Performance Studio Package (a.k.a “Yellow Night”). Included in the special edition is matte graphite gray paint with yellow accents, AMG sport seats with microfiber inserts and yellow trim, unique sill plates and floor mats, and AMG’s performance steering wheel. Nothing says sporty like neon yellow accents.

Pricing for the Yellow Night edition and all other 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA models will be revealed closer to their on-sale date this summer.

Everything new about the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV

It’s no secret that the Mercedes-Benz GLC is the German automaker’s most popular model. Last year, Mercedes sold 342,900 units of the compact SUV globally. A staggering figure. Things, though, don’t slow down in the luxury class and after seven model years on sale, Mercedes believes 2023 is the right time to come out with a fully redesigned GLC and has officially announced pricing for the SUV. The automaker unveiled the redesigned GLC last June, but here's a quick recap if you missed it.
It’s not entirely surprising to see Mercedes roll out a new GLC for the 2023 model year. The GLC shares a platform, tech features, and powertrains with the C-Class. Given that the two models are closely related to one another, it only makes sense to see a new GLC that’s based on the C-Class.

Mercedes just integrated TikTok into its in-car entertainment system (really)
The third-party app will displayed on the 2024 E-Class’ enormous and high-tech Superscreen
2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Superscreen close up on TikTok application.

Mercedes-Benz is consistently at the forefront of innovation. Depending on who you ask, Mercedes-Benz was the first to introduce the modern automobile, to place brakes on all four wheels of a car, and come out with crumple zones for safety. Not sexy, but definitely innovative stuff. Mercedes just gave the world the first glimpse at the 2024 E-Class, and the midsize sedan is an absolute powerhouse on the tech front. The automaker's best seller arrives with a new Superscreen system and native third-party access to popular entertainment apps like Angry Birds, Zoom, Vilvadi web browser, Webex by Cisco, and TikTok.

While GOP leaders in red states are trying to ban TikTok in the United States, claiming that the app provides the Chinese government with sensitive information, Mercedes-Benz has pulled a hold-my-non-alcoholic-beer moment by bringing the app to the new E-Class with its new MB.OS operating system. Obviously, Mercedes doesn’t want you to access TikTok while driving, because recording how you’re going to steal a Hyundai or Kia, which is something you probably learned on TikTok, from behind the wheel of your Mercedes E-Class just isn’t safe. Owners will be able to access TikTok, and other apps, through the infotainment system when the car is parked. Since the E-Class’ dashboard has two screens, your passenger can join in on all the fun that TikTok offers.

Some things like pizza, dogs, and underwear are best to own outright. For others, however, it makes better financial sense to rent. That includes anything prone to rapid depreciation, like RVs, designer clothes, and luxury cars. Mercedes-Benz’s Vehicle Subscription Service aims to tackle the latter by providing discerning drivers with an all-you-can-drive luxury carshare program. This year, the service is getting a significant upgrade to include the carmaker’s elite AMG-badged vehicles.

Mercedes-Benz’s Vehicle Subscription Service provides subscribers with unlimited access to a set range of luxury rides. New for 2020, Mercedes-Benz is expanding its Atlanta collection with an AMG Exclusive tier. The flagship plan includes the iconic automaker’s most exclusive, high-performance vehicles. The means everything from fast but family-friendly options like the AMG C63 Sedan to the off-road-worthy AMG G63 SUV to the absurd AMG GT Roadster with a 0-60 time of just 3.6 seconds.
