The search for the perfect jeans might just be over

After perfecting the classic tee, polo shirt and boxer short, Luxury English brand Sunspel has launched the latest product in their line of men’s essentials: the Made In England Jean.

This marks the first time the brand has delved into the world of denim in its 150-year history. Sunspel’s head designer Pascale Pinxt says that creating the jeans felt like a natural next step in their mission to offer customers the best in menswear basics.

“Sunspel prides itself on providing quality cornerstones of the wardrobe,” she remarks. “We knew denim was a key component to any wardrobe and a natural pairing with our signature white t-shirt.”

When asked what she believes makes for the perfect jean, she succinctly replied, “Fabric, cut, and construction.” To answer to these three criteria, the designers at Sunspel constructed a straight-leg pant out of 14-oz. selvedge denim from Japan.  The denim undergoes a special rope dyed technique, which lends it a particularly rich indigo hue.

“We selected a simple rinse wash to the jean, which means it retains a lot of its dye and looks smart—even in color.  That works best for us as our look is cleaner and more refined,” comments Pinxt.

Though the jeans accrue a certain worn-in character over the course of several washes, as a result of this dying process, the true-to-fit jeans also manage to retain their dark color. The effect is a jean that’s modern yet stylishly classic, all while hearkening back to the brand’s English roots.

“These jeans have a really easy fit, so it works well across a range of customers ,” says Pinxt.  “We see our customers dressing it up with a shirt and our unstructured blazer, or styled casually rolled up and teamed with our signature white t-shirt.”

No matter how they’re worn, the Made In England Jean ($325) makes for the perfect staple in any man’s closet.

Denim might be one of the best fabrics known to man, and few pieces are more essential for a man's wardrobe than a pair of classic blue jeans. But as much as we love it, there's no denying that some of the best aspects of denim are also some of its biggest drawbacks: Namely, that thick, canvas-like cotton weave isn't always the most breathable, flexible, or most well-suited to active lifestyles. DUER looks to change that with its L2X Performance Denim, made for all-weather wear, including -- yes -- hot and humid climates.

Since warmer weather is headed our way -- well, for most of us anyway -- now's the perfect opportunity to stock up on outfits and apparel for the hot summer months. You might be happy to know that for a limited time, Manual readers can take 15% off the entire line with the checkout code MANUAL. Just pop that promo code into the appropriate field at checkout and you'll see the discount. We've picked out some of our favorite performance denim options below, as well!

The 11 Best Jeans for Men that are Built to Last
Jeans are the truest expression of all-American as well as international style.

For something so simple, jeans are truly a contradiction. While they are practically a uniform for people of all ages around the globe, they can also be exclusive and high-priced, coming from luxurious designer or hipster insider brands. They’re acceptable wear for the CEO as much as for the barista who’s making his coffee or the sanitation guy who's picking up the coffee shop's garbage that night. Most of us can wear jeans to work, for a relaxing weekend at home, trekking a mountain range, or a night out on the town.

Although most swimming pools don’t allow cut-off jeans (the fibers clog the filters), there are still plenty of places where you could wear them swimming or surfing: We even saw somebody wearing a particularly stretchy pair at the gym and they didn’t hurt his squat form one bit. We’d be willing to bet there might even be a few people who wear them to bed. Besides their utility, depending on the style, the right jeans can also be worn with everything from a minimalist’s black or white T-shirt to lumberjack flannel shirt to athleisure hoodies to cashmere sweaters, dress shirts, and sport coats. A classic denim trucker jacket— provided you get the fading and the proportions just right — worn with jeans remains one of our favorite looks, whether you call it a Canadian tuxedo or not.
