Rowing Blazers Debuts New Harriman Cup Capsule Collection

Today, almost everyone owns a blazer. Rowing Blazers, the menswear line created by archaeologist, rower, and author Jack Carlson, is quick to point out, however, that the origins of the blazer and its functionality for rowers is where the popularity started.

With their original flannel frames, handy patch pockets, durable metal buttons, and vibrant colors, blazers were perfect for keeping rowers temperate, fluid, and visible to spectators. Not only would these jackets become a normalized accessory in the rowing community, but they would also find their way into virtually every man’s wardrobe by the end of the 19th century.

The Harriman Cup, the 33rd annual polo match and fundraiser between Yale University and University of Virginia, is set for Saturday, September 16 at Bethpage State Park in Long Island, New York. We’ve mentioned Rowing Blazers’ commitment to bringing the rich history of blazers and their role in sports back to the forefront, and the brand’s latest capsule collection follows suit.

This year, Rowing Blazers is a proud to call themselves a sponsor of the event, as well as a contributor to the celebration. Rowing Blazers’ new Harriman Cup line is compiled of handmade pieces like vintage-inspired polo jerseys, which will be worn by opposing teams on match day. Let’s take a look at some of our favorites from the new collection, shall we?

Find your inner explorer with Huckberry's help
Huckberry jacket

We were never meant to drive a desk. We were never designed to spend our days in a cubicle. We were designed to live under the sky with the sun and the stars able to stare down on us. We have long since forged a world of comfort, with customs of living indoors, safe from the dangerous sun and the deadly predators that roam at night. And ever since we forged that world, we've started to lose our connection to the great outdoors. That is why Huckberry is one of the most important brands for a man looking to reconnect with and recapture the spirit of our ancestors. But combining explorer's wear with fashion wasn't enough for Huckberry, they also want to send you on the adventure of a lifetime.
