Filson x J. Crew – A Great Fall Collaboration

Answered Prayers:  J.Crew and Filson have teamed-up on a collaboration.  Talk about a win-win !  The new capsule collection features four pieces that Filson designed for J. Crew for fall 2013. The capsule collection is comprised of two of Filson’s iconic bags and two of its most sturdy jackets, in spot-on color combinations exclusive to J.Crew. In a fall palette of olive, navy, and charcoal, the collaboration taps into Filson’s sturdy rugged twill and wool. As per their tradition, these pieces will get better with age and stand up to whatever you can put them through.

The Rugged Twill Field Bag is ideal from work to weekend. This bag has a large flap that closes completely so nothing bounces out in your daily trek. With full-width open rear pocket and two open side pockets, it is a easy-access, versatile bag. The padded bridle leather shoulder strap and doubled-bottom were both designed to stand up to extra-heavy loads(don’t just think work here, booze bottles can weigh us down too!).  With two expandable front pockets (just right for some game day flasks), are perfect for your wallet and/or phone.

The Original Briefcase, is tough enough for everyday use, wherever your work happens to be. Two full-length open pockets are inside the wide carrying compartment. There are also compartments for a calculator, business cards, pens and pencils. With four external pockets, this is almost a desk on the go.  A more durable briefcase in fabric would be hard to find.

The Yukon Wool Guide Work Jacket, is rugged, and dare we say, a practical jacket. With underarm gussets for excellent mobility, this jacket has an updated trim fit. It has enough pockets (six) for bringing along whatever you need. A cell phone pocket provides easy access for communication on the go.

The Yukon Wool-Lined Seattle Cruiser, Filson’s thickest, heaviest Mackinaw Wool Cruiser coat, named after Mackinaw Island (one of our favorite no-auto islands), is fully lined in plaid cotton. This style dates back to 1914, and J.Crew’s version is color-blocked in forest green and charcoal wool.

Prada reintroduces the Toblach, a minimalist icon reborn
Prada brings back the Toblach, an archival favorite
prada toblach loafers

Just as with many luxury designers and houses, Prada’s history is full of archival designs that are ready to be reimagined. Focusing on Prada’s footwear for men, the fashion house has plenty of silhouettes to pick from that could easily become modern favorites. Now, Prada is taking from those archives and delivering to users fan-favorites that have been redone to meet contemporary needs and trends. The first of these archival revivals comes in the form of the Toblach. The Toblach was first introduced during the 1998 fall/winter collection and became one of the first formal sneakers to hit mainstream. A hybrid shoe ahead of its time, this elevated design got its form by taking inspiration from loafers and sailing-ready sneakers. In its newest form, the Toblach collection looks to bring back this hybrid style at a time when the trend seems only to become more popular.

Panerai’s Original Luminor returns in a faithful re-release
The Panerai Luminor series

True innovation in the watchmaking industry is often measured by the faithful resurrection of the iconic. Panerai has proven this theory correct by masterfully re-releasing its Luminor Marina Ref. PAM01000, a timepiece that brings the foundational DNA of the 1998 original into the present day. This is a precise re-creation that gives collectors a rare chance to possess a definitive era of watchmaking history, now equipped with the reliability of modern in-house manufacture. The release is further proof of Panerai’s enduring power in its design language.

Reebok and MARKET reunite for another bold, hybrid collection
the reebok x market club c 85 drops in two bold new editions

Although it’s not the first time that Reebok and MARKET have worked together on a collaboration, it’s undoubtedly some of the boldest and most statement pieces the duo has released. Tapping into earthy tones and aquatic movements, this new collaborative collection embodies the dynamism you would expect from either brand. As to the inspiration of the collection, Mike Cherman, founder of MARKET, explained, “The inspiration for this collection was Land & Sea. Then we asked ourselves, ‘What if a strap sandal and a sneaker had a baby?’ You get this lightweight, open-air hybrid, made for hot days, wet feet, and spontaneous detours.” Based on this inspiration, the collection comes with two new bold designs and a series of apparel that meets the moment.
