There’s a little over forty days left in 2015. Yes, you read that right. The year is almost over. That means that you’ll soon read a lot of recaps and reviews of the year; there’ll be an influx of look-backs, assessments and evaluations of what 2015 meant.

But Booker’s Bourbon doesn’t need any recaps, their year in review was full of limited edition, small batch bourbons. First there was “Big Man, Small Batch,” then there was “Dot’s Batch,” followed by “Center Cut,” the “Oven Buster Batch,” and, most recently, “Maw Maw’s Batch.”

This month, Booker’s has released the final batch of the year: “Noe Secret.” Don’t blink or you’ll miss the clever wordplay. Even though the name is fun, the inspiration comes from the fact that Booker Noe never kept secrets in his life or in his work—and he was always dedicated to using the finest ingredients in his bourbon.

Like all of the 2015 limited edition batches of Booker’s, “Noe Secret” is high in alcohol content. At 64.05% alcohol by volume (128 proof), it is one of the strongest offerings of the year. But at six years, eight months and seven days, it falls neatly into the age spectrum of all of the Booker’s whiskies to hit the market during the last twelve months.

“Noe Secret” also features one of the custom made label’s that these limited edition bourbons have become known for. This time around, the label features an illustration of a corked bottle of bourbon, holding a curled and tied document—a piece of paper that one can only assume contains the “secrets” that Booker Noe avoided keeping all of his life. But the bottle is transparent: the secret is on full display, just as it was with Booker Noe.

The year is winding down, and so are these special offerings from Booker’s. They left you enough time to pick up a few limited edition bottles for yourself and your loved ones, though. But these bourbons aren’t just here in time for the holidays—they’re here for you to buy, save and savor for the year (or years) to come.

Get creative: How to use hibiscus in your cocktails this spring
How to use hibiscus in cocktails
Alcoholic cocktail with pieces of fruit and berries in a bowl

Hibiscus is a great ingredient to incorporate into your cocktail game. Offering radiant color and a unique flavor, the flower is often converted to tea but also can be used as a syrup, lesser-known liqueur, soda, and more. And we especially like it in a good spring cocktail, as hibiscus is both floral and refreshing.

Why hibiscus in a cocktail? Because your mixology game could use a little creativity. There are enough boring cocktails out there made with the same old lineup of ingredients. Those are fine for regulars, but you're a budding cocktail artist.
