Ask anybody who wears a luxury timepiece why they wear it and they’ll tell you the same thing; a watch isn’t so much about telling time these days; it’s about style and status. Despite having the time on their cell phones, most men of a certain stature still wear a timepiece. New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony likes watches so much, that he co-founded Haute Time, the number one luxury watch resource. During NBA All-Star weekend, Anthony and Dom Pérignon hosted a late-night, post-game “Lights Out” (the nickname Anthony gave to Dom Pérignon’s Luminous bottles) bash with Haute Time at the Gilded Lily. Swizz Beatz, who DJd the party, even had to charter a G650 jet, which happened to be the only one allowed to land during the storm that night. Anthony wore an IWC timepiece that night, while all his friends wore pieces by Patek Philippe, Hublot, and more.

Anthony, who is clearly a watch enthusiast, has a number of favorite watches. Curious about his style? See the main photo above (Clockwise, L-R): The F.P. G-SHOCK MRG-BF1000R-1A 'Frogman' In Titanium on model

Two things can certainly co-exist together without there being any friction: toughness and luxury, ruggedness and refinement. While G-Shock has never been thought of as a brand that dominates the highest echelons of haute horlogerie, especially with Rolex and Tudor out there, that doesn't mean they don't have their own high-end watches.

G-Shock began as Casio's vision for a durable watch after engineer Kikuo Ibe developed the first G-Shock in 1983. Apparently, he felt like traditional watches were too fragile, and he had a point, considering what the brand has come up with thus far. Over the years, G-Shock watches evolved and started incorporating advanced features like shock resistance, water resistance, and an array of sensors.

Seiko 5 Sports SNXS Series watches

Throwing it back to the early days of Seiko, the latest edition to the Seiko 5 Sports lineup pays homage to a beloved icon of the brand: the Seiko SNXS. Seiko SNXS has officially returned

Seiko made history in 1963 when they introduced the Sportsmatic 5, Japan's first automatic day-date. The Seiko 5 quickly shot up in popularity as it was crafted with a stainless steel case and bracelet, had water and shock resistance, and featured tons of practical functions while still being affordable. It debuted during the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, meaning it was put on the map globally (pun intended), and by 1966, Seiko 5 exports surpassed the collective output of automatic watches from Switzerland.
