When you’re planning a trip or preparing to travel, there’s no shortage of crowdsourced options for finding a place to stay. But let’s be honest, most of those options are more like gambling. You never really know what you’re going to get, or what kind of place you’re going to be reserving. In most cases, it’s almost always better to go with a tried and true option, so you’re not scrambling late at night to find a new place to stay. I’ve been there before, more than once, and it’s not fun. It’s even more relevant if you’re traveling with your family. So, where do you go? Somewhere like ChoiceHotels.com — one of the largest and most successful franchisors in the world.

Through Choice Hotels you can access over 7,000 hotels across more than 40 countries and territories worldwide. Options include full-service and upscale hotels, midscale, extended stay options and even economy stays. You can find hotels easily and quickly, book a reservation just as easily, and manage reservations later. Everything is accessible online or via the mobile app, plus you’ll earn select member rewards for repeated bookings.

For online reservations, your booking game is only going to be as strong as what’s available through the provider. So, it helps to know some of the major brands that work with Choice Hotels, in this case so you have an idea of what you’ll be able to book. Cambria Hotels, Radisson, Comfort, Country Inn and Suites, Quality Inn, Woodspring Suites, MainStay Suites, EconoLodge, and EverHome Suites are just a small sample of what you can select from.

Use the app or Choice Hotels website to book and manage reservations anytime. Getting started is pretty easy, too. Just input your preferred destination, choose the number of guests and room size, and select any special rates that might apply. Then, just search. You’ll get a comprehensive list of all the hotels available where you want to stay. Pick one from the list, after doing a bit of research, of course, and that’s all there is to it.

What about rewards?

There are a couple of options available to earn rewards, but the most exciting is the free Choice Privileges program. How does it work? Sign up and join for free, then start earning points on qualifying stays and purchases. You’ll also unlock access to exclusive members-only rates, deals and discounts, and extra benefits where they apply. For instance, you can redeem points for free nights, gift cards, other extras, and beyond.

A prime example of a member’s benefit is that you can earn double your extras benefits by staying at select hotels on weeknights versus weekends. Eligible at places like Cambria, Ascend, Radisson, Radisson RED, or Radisson Blue hotels, as long as you stay on a Sunday through a Thursday night, you get extra points. At least, that’s valid until the end of December 2024. All the more reason to sign up as soon as possible — since it’s free anyway — and start reaping those extra rewards.
