TGIF Shopping: Lexdray Launches Apres Apparel + Winter Collections

With the ‘why do one thing when you can do two’ mentality comes travel and accessories brand Lexdray’s latest pair of collections, an Apres Apperal Collection and their new Symmetry Collection for Winter 2015.

The brand’s first outerwear apparel collection is a trio of versatile technical sweatshirts that, like their signature bags, merges utility and style.

“I’ve always viewed technical outerwear as a natural fit with our core offering of bags and accessories, envisioning it to offer many of the same characteristics,” explains Lexdray’s Founder and Creative Director Alex Drayer. “I think I would actually call our Après Collection semi-technical, in that each piece has a water-repellent coating which has been applied to a thick 14oz cotton, plus water-proof zippers and premium hardware.  However, it’s not fully technical with bonded seams, special water-resistant fabrics, etc. It’s a more achievable entry into apparel for a company who has really just been known for bags since we launched.”

Each sweatshirt is named after a city: Chamonix, Banff, Gstaad. Chamonix is a ski destination in the French Alps where the Après-ski term originated, while Banff and Gstaad are authentic ski destinations frequented by Drayer.

Asked which is his favorite, Drayer says the Gstaad zip hoodie. “I was really wanting to create an automatic travel piece which would be your go-to for all trips, including your flights.  It has deep front pockets for your hands, a shoulder pocket for your cell phone, and two internal chest pockets for your boarding pass and valuables. If you want to be left alone, it has a large deep hood to hide yourself away. And if it’s raining when you arrive to your destination, the water-repellent coating will help protect you from the elements.”

Meanwhile, the Winter 2015 collection is introducing a new custom fabric – a rip-stop nylon fused with a heavy duty mesh, the combination of which creates a subtle diamond-shaped pattern that inspired the collection’s name.

The collection  includes three best sellers – the Tokyo Pack, Boulder Pack and Dubai Travel Case, as well as and two new silhouettes, the Whistler Pack and Toronto Pack.  Each style comes in a classic black with a custom Lexdray heather grey lining and as always, is released in a limited run of 500 and numbered on the interior.

Garmin upgrades the solar functionality on the new Instinct 3
New Garmin Instinct 3 is more powerful
Garmin Instinct 3

Garmin presents the new Instinct 3 collection of tactical watches with advanced tactical functionalities to enhance the user experience. It features three watches—a 45mm solar version, a 50 mm solar option, and a 45 mm AMOLED piece. The solar variants are designed to offer unlimited battery power to tackle the toughest outdoor expeditions. A bigger screen means more surface area for solar energy.

While the battery goes a long way in providing an enhanced user experience, the watch’s durability is also quite crucial, so the brand upgraded the bezel and reinforced it for multiple activities. The solar functionality is also more powerful than that featured on the previous model. It’s about five times more efficient than the Instinct 2 feature.

Apart from offering affordability to watch enthusiasts, the model also passed down the brand’s legacy with its unique and pioneering design, which was quite new at that time.

Noctograph by Massena LAB and Raúl Pagès

Massena LAB joins hands with Raúl Pagès once more on a new masterpiece. They worked on other models in the past (Absinthe and Magraph), and the latest, Noctograph, is an extension of that. While a few components were passed down from previous generations, the two reimagined the front face to make the new watch stylish.

Massena LAB is quite popular for creative designs, cleverly implemented to spice up different models. Raul Pages, on the other hand, is a talented watchmaker who is quite popular for his minimalist style, often accentuated by a retro aesthetic. This new addition bridges two worlds with a blue dial with different shades(dark and light hues), creating a beautiful interplay of light and shadows. The Noctograph also features a signature that reads this—Massena.
