Worn Out Wednesday – Lincoln Pilcher

The envy factor you guys may have on Lincoln Pilcher could hit record highs, but trust us, he’s a good guy. Swear!

Growing up in Sydney he got tapped as a model and moved to New York City in 1999 to sign with an agency and start his career. After working in the biz for several years he realized it was not his thing (Read- Boring!). But what he did discover was his love for photography. He began assisting photographers and really enjoyed the learning process.

Lincoln took a hiatus from photography when he helped open a restaurant called Ruby’s in New York’s NoLita. He also had a hand in several other New York foodie hot spots but the camera was calling his name and Lincoln started shooting again in 2005.

Pilcher started out working with Australian publications and has been shooting extensively for China Vogue. As he told us, “It is such a new market so it has been really interesting to work in, they are very conservative but still like to have fun with their images.” He shoots for Australian Vogue as well.

This summer he is hosting a pop up in Sag Harbor called Moby Dick’s, so if you are ‘out East’ this month, go check it out and meet the man himself.

We spoke to Lincoln about his personal style and here is what he had to say.

I am a very simple and understated dresser. I love James Perse, Bottega Veneta and Ralph Lauren’s Double RL. I guess you could call it ‘Simplified Prep’. J. Crew does a really great job for guys too.

As for shoes, I’m a big fan of Vans, A.P.C and for dressier occasions, Bottega Veneta.

One of my favorite things to do is put on a suit. I would be biased if I didn’t say   Tom Ford is my favorite for black tie. I have great Calvin Klein suits for more casual wear as well as some Bottega ones. I have a couple of pieces from my friends over at Rag & Bone.

My mother worked for Vogue for a long time so I always had to dress to travel! Now I wear jeans, a white tee, blazer and carry either my Tumi carry-on or my Rimowa.

Surfing is a big passion so I wear a lot of Saturdays board shorts and tees. I think what they are doing is very simple and in great colors.

I have a serious fetish for sunglasses. Moscot is my go-to as is Oliver Peoples.

I have a beautiful 1981 vintage Rolex. My mom gave it to me for my 30th birthday. I like a watch I can wear everyday and still beat the shit out of!
