Rudy’s Barbershop Launches a 3-Step Hair and Body Wash System

For a proper trim or cut, Rudy’s Barbershop remains one of the premier grooming options along the West Coast — along with its New York City, Atlanta, and Nashville locations. While the popular parlor’s built its name on delivering slick fades, it’s now trying its hand at an exclusive line of hair and body products designed for both men and women. Better yet, the shampoo Rudy’s includes in the system is the same the shop uses to clean customers’ hair — unfortunately, the life-changing head massage which usually comes standard with a barbershop cut isn’t part of the package.

Dubbed the 1-2-3 Showering System, Rudy’s hair and body wash (according to the company) comes by way of countless haircuts and endless nights of trial and error. A finished product perfect for any hair or skin type, the 1-2-3 Showering System is a literal one-stop shop to getting clean each day. From its shampoo which retains moisture and adds body, to its companion conditioner that softens hair, reduces static, and proves wildly effective at de-tangling even the messiest of dos, the hair care aspect (something Rudy’s is an expert at) is stellar.

Backed by what Rudy’s calls its signature scent, each step features accents of cedar, citrus, and juniper. Though, what this really means is that at the end of a shower, users may step out of their bathroom smelling like a full-blown Rudy’s salon. As anyone who’s ever received a cut at Rudy’s could attest, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Rudy’s debut into the hair and body wash field is intriguing, no doubt, but it’s the brand’s partnership with the It Gets Better Project that’s particularly influential. For every purchase of its 1-2-3 Showering System, the company says it plans to donate the exact product to homeless shelters across the United States who serve LGBTQ youth. Furthermore, the brand also partners with the Human Rights Campaign and the LA LGBT Center.

An ability to make a positive impact and smell good? Few companies offer this kind of lasting impression but Rudy’s does so masterfully.

Man with long hair and glasses

For the most part, we live in a straight-hair world. Personally, this has never been an issue for me — while I am follicly challenged, my hair has always been reasonably well-behaved. The occasional stray curl pops up at the end of a strand when I grow it out, but I never faced the challenges that men with curls often have to confront.
These challenges can feel formidable. Curls can be unruly and hard to tame, and that might seem like a limitation. But the reality is very much the opposite — there are plenty of great-looking choices, provided you know what you want, get a great barber or stylist, and arm yourself with a little knowledge.
