Dogfish Head and Woolrich Team Up for Pennsylvania Tuxedo

In Pennsylvania, the family-run heritage clothing label Woolrich is so ubiquitous that they teamed up with Dogfish Head Craft Brewed Ales for a collaboration that also doubles as a nod to the uniform they conceived. Called Pennsylvania Tuxedo, the spruce-infused ale “pays homage to the flannel-suited hunters and gatherers who dwell deep in the back country of north central Pennsylvania.”

The ale, which was brewed with the help of the Woolrich, has, according to Dogfish Head Craft Brewed Ales, “a grassy citrus kick complemented by the resinous conifer notes of fresh green spruce tips.” Dogfish went into the forests of north-central Pennsylvania and Georgetown, Delaware to pick the fresh tips themselves. The ale has a “dry, yet doughy malt backbone [that] lets the hops and spruce shine while still balancing out the bitterness.”

Similar to a pinot gris, the beer pairs great with smoked salmon, smoked meats, wild game and big crusty breads. If you want to drink it while eating cheese, go for a Jarlesberg or sharp cheddar.

So next time you put on your Woolrich flannels, grab a six pack of the Woolrich and Dogfish Head Craft Brewed Ales Pennsylvania Tuxedo. You’ll feel as if you were in the forests of Pennsylvania hunting. Or you can just get a bottle and imagine you were in the deep woods of Pennsylvania wearing your Woolrich flannel suit ready to find your prey.

Bourbon County Stout available in mini-packs this year
Bourbon County Stout mini-pack bottles.

One of the most sought-after beers is now available in a new format. Goose Island's Bourbon County Brand Original Stout can be acquired via a four-pack of ten-ounce bottles when it's officially released later this year. Largely considered one of the best stout beers in the states, the latest installment of Bourbon County will drop on Black Friday.

The barrel-aged beer has gained a raucous following since it was first released back in 1992. Goose Island suggests that the new format is ideal for side-by-side tastings. As many of these beers drink like wines, both in terms of alcohol content and complexity, we can't help but agree.

Mezcal isn’t just smoky tequila — and other myths debunked
It's to debunk the biggest mezcal myths
Mezcal

While tequila has been popular forever, mezcal has only found its time in the proverbial sun in the last few decades. It all started in the early aughts when social media and celebrity brands began to hit the market. It's still gaining in popularity thanks to the rise of cocktail culture and drinkers' enthusiasm for traditional and artisanal spirits.

Like with all spirits, I didn't fully understand mezcal right away. It took time (and sampling of many mezcals) to learn the ins and outs of this agave-based spirit. I also learned that, like all spirits, it's not without its myths and misconceptions.
