Today we speak to the stylish and design savvy Eric Villency:

Eric Villency is the CEO of Villency Design Group, a company founded by his grandfather. Villency however is not one to coast on his family’s laurels; in fact he has successfully turned a family-run furniture business into one of the most internationally influential product design and interior firms. Not only has he overseen the transformation of lounges for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and Citi Field, but he has worked with brands like Peloton, Organic Avenue, Equinox, and SoulCycle, helping them develop some of their signature products and apparel. Now, despite having countless projects in the works, Villency has launched his own line of fitness apparel, which has already been picked up by Bloomingdale’s.

As Villency explained to us, “I was born in New York City. I came from a very artistic family where creative expression was always encouraged. My Grandfather was a huge style influence in my life and his uncontrived approach to style is something that made a big impact on me.”

As for his personal style:

Jeans: 3×1 denim, Paige denim and of course a great pair of vintage denim is hard to beat.

Shirts: I have a tailor that makes my dress shirts. I am a fan of Kiton and Eton as well.

Pants: I tend to wear mostly denim or full suits. Again, most of my suits/ pants are from my tailor. For kicking around casual I have some great Relwen cargo pants too.

Suits: Again, working often in Italy and Hong Kong I especially appreciate skilled tailors (…I really like Napoli’s Eidos)

Shoes: Prada men’s shoes (their classic unlogo’d styles with understated branding ) are comfortable and timeless.

Accessories: My first watch was a gift from my Grandfather and my favorite brands are IWC, Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe.

Underwear: big fan of Tiger of Sweden for an off the beaten path brand of men’s underwear.

Outerwear: Triple Aught Design leads the way on outerwear and technical sweaters.

Favorite Cologne: Creed (though my favorite one, Santal Imperial is currently vaulted)

Your favorite App: Depends what city I am in and what I am doing- isn’t that the beauty of apps? In LA uber is my favorite, lying on the beach under the stars? Star Tracker for sure.

Favorite piece of technology: iPad– I spend half my life designing things and the other half showing it to people.

Next tech purchase: a vintage 1940’s Emerson Tube radio. You never know the next tech trend…but they don’t make them like they used to.

Something to notice about the collection of new releases hitting the shelves this year is that Citizen is celebrating two big anniversaries that will surely have you looking to upgrade your collection with some beautiful throwbacks. You only get one chance to make a great first impression. That is why we dress nicely. That is why we groom ourselves expertly. And that is why you need to have a great cologne. You never know who you are going to meet, and you don't want to be caught in anything other than your best. You may be forgiven if your hair is a little long when you are on the trail. You may be forgiven for having a five o'clock shadow on Saturday afternoon. And you may not be punished for wearing jeans and a T-shirt at the movie theater. However, you will always be judged for not smelling good. That is why you need to invest in the best men's colognes.

Having a pleasant fragrance is more than smelling pleasant for those around you. It also attracts people to you and shows that you care about your hygiene. People will respond better and remember you fondly if your smell lingers. It is the most powerful scent tied to memory, so make sure you are remembered in 2024 with these top picks for colognes for men. We didn't go with all the big boys in the men's cologne industry. You will see one name that nearly everyone knows. But, we stuck more with the ones that you all should know. There is no Dior, no Polo, and no Gucci on this list. We didn't go for names. We went for quality fragrances and picks that will keep you remembered long after you leave.
