Tito’s Vodka Partners with Candy Company for Boozy New Treats

Any time there is a chance to combine two of our favorite activities — drinking and eating, of course — we will jump at it. Whether it’s pounding brewskis and eating hot dogs at a football game, working our way through a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and California cuisine pairing, or drinking whiskey and eating wings, the ability to put the two necessities together is great. Now, we have a new way to do that, which anyone with a sweet tooth is really going to enjoy.

Tito’s Vodka has partnered with the luxury candy boutique Sugarfina to create a new set of vodka-infused candies. The collection will feature two new sweets inspired by the Moscow Mule and by (just about) everyone’s love of chocolate.

“As craft vodka lovers, we’re excited to partner with [Tito’s] on this grown-up candy collection,” Sugarfina co-founders Rosie O’Neill and Josh Resnick said in a statement. “These new vodka-infused treats perfectly round out our top shelf collection.”

The first new candy, American Mule bears, are non-alcoholic gummy bears imbued with Tito’s and a splash of ginger beer. The taste calls to mind one of the drinks that Tito’s is perhaps most known for.

If you’re looking for actual booze in your candy, though, you’re going to want to try the Tiro’s Vodka Cordials. Made of rich dark chocolate, each cordial has a sip of Tito’s contained inside. Both sets comes in a signature Sugarfina cube and retail for $8.50.

If you decide you need all of these in your life, there is the “Vodka Is Always a Good Idea Candy Bento Box,” which will contain both flavors. The collection comes in a custom box and is accompanied by a mini hand-crafted copper mule mug. The Candy Bento Box retails for $28.

Previously, Sugarfina has worked with Casamigos Tequila to put out margarita-flavored and Paloma-flavored candies. For those that want the boozy flavor but maybe not the alcohol in their candy, they’ve also got a line that includes bourbon gummies and more.

Spit roast lamb

One of the best ways to cook meat is by an open fire, and there are several ways to accomplish this -- a clean barbecue grill, a spit (also known as rotisserie), or even a campfire. There's nothing better than cooking meat over an open flame, especially during warm days of summer when we're often outside. The smoky flavor, the slight char, and the dripping fat all add to the roasted meat experience.

You can roast just about any meat outdoors, and by using many techniques. We’re going to be discussing how to spit roast whole lamb on an outdoor rotisserie. Here's how to do it in five steps.

The literary bars of literary giants

Writers and bars have a special connection. These haunts are where ideas are forged, new characters are developed, and--in some cases--where the next great American novel is created.

Within these hallowed walls, you can feel the buzz of creative energy. Sure, Hemingway and Hunter S. Thompson may be gone, but their spirit remains, permeating these watering holes with an atmosphere you just don't get anywhere else.

How to make an Old Fashioned cocktail the right way
When you're mixing up an Old Fashioned, you don't want to do it wrong
An Old Fashioned cocktail on a counter

For many bartenders and drinkers alike, the Old Fashioned holds a special place in their collective hearts. If we were ever reduced to a single cocktail on the menu — heaven forbid — we'd still do just fine if this classic whiskey drink was it. Frankly, it's a tried-and-true cocktail worthy of its legacy and colossal popularity.

Brooks Reitz is the founder of Jack Rudy Cocktail Co. He also runs Leon's Oyster Shop and Little Jack's Tavern, among others. With a classic drink like this, it can be easy to overlook the subtleties. "I think the biggest miss with most Old Fashioned recipes is not using enough bitters," Reitz said. "They are really the tie that binds the whole thing, and you really want that spice on the backend to bring everything home."
