The Best Gifts to Buy Now and Pay Later at Walmart (with Affirm)

Tight budget? Trying to plan for the holidays or take advantage of all the early Black Friday deals that dropped this year? One of the best ways to sort out impulse buys, and everything else, is to utilize Affirm, the buy now, pay later service offered at Walmart. With all of the shortages, shipping delays, and similar supply chain problems coming down the pipeline, we don’t blame you for not wanting to wait! We wouldn’t recommend doing so either, especially if there’s something you really want.

Through Walmart and Affirm you can finance your in-store or online purchases, allowing you to buy items right then and there, but pay later through monthly installments. Below, we’ll cover all of the best gifts to buy now, pay later, plus briefly answer some questions about the program. You can also start shopping right away if you want to browse on your own!

How Does Affirm and Walmart’s Buy Now Pay Later Process Work?

The whole process is pretty quick. Here’s how it works:If you’re shopping online at Walmart.com, just select Affirm at checkout. If you’re shopping in-store, visit Affirm.com/Walmart to apply and then you can use the single-use barcode at the register. To make payments, you can use the Affirm mobile app, or visit Affirm.com. You’ll also receive monthly payment reminders, just so you don’t forget to pay your bill! You can apply and read more at Walmart’s dedicated FAQ page.

You can still return financed items, allowing you to take advantage of extended return windows. Your credit score will not be affected if you check to see if you prequalify, but if you go ahead with your purchase, it may. Moreover, when you checkout you’ll have the option to choose between 3 to 24-month payment plans — depending on the total cost — which determines your monthly payment.

Your rate will be 10–30% APR based on credit, and is subject to an eligibility check. Ex: on a $250 purchase, you may pay $23.19/mo for 12 months (20% APR). Subject to eligibility. Payment options through Arm are provided by these lending partners: affirm.com/lenders . Options depend on your purchase amount, and a down payment may be required.

Tablets are great to have, in addition to a smartphone, thanks to the larger screen and overall form factor. You can do a lot more on a tablet, from writing and sketching to watching HD-quality videos — including movies and shows. There are always cheap tablets available, but most of the time, it’s a waste of money to spend on them. They’re often bogged down by poor performance, inadequate displays, bad software, and beyond. But if you want a really good tablet, often you pay a high price. Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S7, the latest from the brand, is a great option that’s both affordable and pleasant to use. Normally about $650 in total, it’s on sale right now at Walmart, and available at just $47 per month through Affirm.

There’s an entire toy section dedicated to large items, from swingsets and playgrounds to trampolines and electric vehicles! It would be a disservice to focus on just one. Generally, they tend to be quite expensive especially for a one-time purchase if you’re paying in full. The Walmart BNPL program definitely makes these buys much more feasible, dropping payments down to less than $100 per month through Affirm.

Good vacuums are expensive. Take the Dyson V11 Torque Drive Cordless Vacuum, which is an excellent cleaner, by the way. Paying in full you’d have to part with $700. That can put a real wrench in a tight budget, especially when you have other gifts to buy for family and friends. Through Affirm and Walmart’s BNPL program that drops to just $65 per month. That’s much more manageable. Of course, that makes all potential vacuums more reasonably priced, including robot vacuums which will clean your home for you and return to their docks.

New Game Console – Nintendo Switch OLED Model

The new Nintendo Switch console includes a vibrant and beautiful OLED screen that puts the original model to shame. But it’s also a bit more expensive at $349 for just the console — you’ll need to buy games too! Thanks to Walmart’s Buy Now Pay Later program that drops to just $45 per month through Affirm. It will be a bit higher if you add a few games, but you’ll get all of them at the same time, and if you’re gifting the console the recipient will be able to play right away! If you’re looking for the PS5 or Xbox Series S|X instead you’ll see similar pricing through Affirm.

There are a ton of eligible items to choose from in this category, and again, instead of paying for the full-purchase upfront you can finance through Affirm to spread those payments out so they’re more manageable.
