Akamai Personal Care: Earth Friendly Grooming Products We Love

No matter what news station you listen to, paper you read, or blog you browse, the environment is in heavy rotation. Dying coral reefs, Native lands in danger, and plastic bags being banned slowly but surely city by city.

All of this makes us think, what the hell are we slapping on our faces every morning? If you look on the back of your skin care products and it reads like a Dicken’s novel filled with scientific nonsense, you might want to rethink those products. We did. And since then, we have been enjoying the forward thinking and fresh products from Akamai.

As co-founder Vincent Cobb told us, “[Akamai’s] mission is to help men break free from the mainstream personal care paradigm that promotes too many products, chemicals and complexity – at a high cost to both our health, environment and wallets. We believe there is nothing normal about what has become “the norm.” He continues, “We make 100% natural, multipurpose, healthy, personal care essentials and deliver them via our subscription service. Clean and healthy teeth, skin, and hair can be achieved with much less fuss, far fewer products, and at a lower cost than we have been led to believe.”

Are you ready to jump on board this eco-friendly grooming party bus? Here’s how to start:

3 in 1 Bar

The soap is great for face, body, hair, and even for shaving. The light scent is isn’t going to knock you over in the morning and the size is great for travel and camping, too, since it is 100% biodegradable.

Skin Fuel

This may be our favorite product. It’s a great moisturizer and has a very light spicy scent. This is going to be our go-to during the hot summer months when we don’t want to use a heavy cream. It is also a good go to for a hair product. Just a little dab rubbed into your palms and smoothed over your hair adds shine, reduces fly-aways and won’t weigh you down.

Mineral Toothpaste

This one takes some getting used to, so get used to it. The gray color and clay-like consistency is because, well, it’s made with clay–Bentonite and Kaolin clay to be exact. But don’t worry, they have added sea salt, peppermint, cinnamon, tea tree, and clove for a great taste. The paste won’t foam (because it isn’t fake) and  it fights bad bacteria that can lead to tooth decay, gum disease, and bad breath while reducing plaque and tartar.

Like some other delivery services, they will send you a new box every two months and you can tell them what you want more or less of.

What makes them even cooler is that they donate 1% of their sales to the Environmental Working Group to support their mission to educate and empower people to live healthier lives in a healthier environment.

However, this can also make your next spritz difficult to find. Enter Scentbird and ScentBox, two subscription services aimed at bringing the excitement of discovering a new fragrance to your home. Both services assist you with finding scents you'll love and allow you to dabble in niche and lesser-known brands. You may be wondering which is best. Worry no more, and let us break down the pros and cons of Scentbird and ScentBox so you can find a clear winner.

Reading about the notes in a perfume or cologne online is all well and good, but it's usually a decision that requires you to get sniffing in real life. Shopping for fragrances in a store is a notoriously terrible experience, so much so that even Spongebob hates it. It's all too easy to end up with a full-size bottle of a fragrance you liked at first, but don't love.

There’s more than one type of buzz cut — 5 incredible ideas for your hair
5 ways to rock the short hair without a lot of maintenance
Man with a buzz cut

Men have been cutting their hair since the days of using sharp rocks to cut the ends off. We have had dozens of different styles that can make us look put together, unkempt, or somewhere in between. Whether you are rocking the Bruce Willis or Jason Statham bald look or the Jason Momoa or Chris Hemsworth long and flowing locks, your hair says a lot about your personality and lifestyle, and the buzz cut is no different

The buzz cut is the shortest of hairstyles, at least the shortest where hair is still there, and is one of the manliest and most attractive options a man can choose. It is the style most often chosen by the military and law enforcement as it is short enough to stay out of the way when stuff hits the fan. While you may think that all buzz cuts are the same, there are numerous versions. Here are five of the most common versions of the buzz cut for you to try out for yourself.
