8 Pride-Inspired Shoes that are Actually Giving Back to the LGBTQ+ Community

Each year during Pride month, different companies unveil Pride collections in an effort to capitalize on a segment of the population that has been asking for visibility and support. Unfortunately, these collections often sell out without actually giving back to the LGBTQ+ community, which has led to a backlash from the same community that inspired their colorful collections.

However, in 2019 — as the LGBTQ+ community celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots (June 28), which sparked the gay rights movement — brands and retailers have stepped up their message of inclusivity with their Pride collections. Below, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite shoe companies that have Pride-themed kicks and boots with charitable components that support causes that impact LGBTQ+ people. If you are looking for that perfect pair of shoes to show your pride while supporting a company that supports the community, here are eight great options to choose from.

After launching its first Pride collection in 2018, Under Armour is back with a “United We Win” Pride-inspired take on the UA Hovr SLK shoe. The sneakers feature a blue-tinted gray upper with an atypical rainbow patterned midsole and outsole. The “United We Win” collection includes apparel, socks, and more and is available on the Under Armour website and will be sold in Macy’s stores throughout the month of June. In addition, Under Armour will also be sponsoring the Pride parades in Baltimore, Austin, and World Pride in NYC, as well as participating in the San Francisco Pride to celebrate Under Armour’s ongoing commitment to equality, justice, and opportunity for all.

How it supports the LGBTQ+ community: Under Armour provides financial support to Athlete Ally, a not-for-profit group working to eliminating homophobia and transphobia in sports by educating and activating athletic communities.
