Achieve affordable elegance with Alvieri Watches

Finding an affordable elegant watch capable of standing up to the rigors of everyday life isn’t easy, just ask Alvieri Watches founders Darwin, Silas, and Nelson. Nearly two years ago, the trio were on the hunt for this elusive, unicorn-type watch but kept coming up empty. Sure, they found dozens of quality brands that offered a classy watch for his wrist but none were able to capture their attention when it came to their design. Everything looked the same. So what did they do? Start their own watch company, of course.

Officially launched earlier this month on the popular crowdfunding site Kickstarter, Alvieri Watches are the epitome of affordable elegance. With a design culled from sculptures in Florence, Italy, the team aimed to create a watch which boasted a lively face. That is, one featuring a three-dimensional look to the wearer. They accomplished this by including a convex hour track and guilloche pattern on the dial which beautifully reacts to light striking it from any angle.

“We’re a group of people who are passionate about watches,” reads the Kickstarter campaign. “We realized there was a need for an affordable elegant watch that has a distinctive look. Then, we set out to create a watch brand that embraced the three-dimensional beauty. In early 2015, we built Alvieri LLC based in Nevada.”

Even the name Alvieri itself originates from the Italian term for “alive,” something the company is completely embracing as one of the pillars of the entire watch line. Additionally, the brand’s logo makes use of interlocking infinity symbols which form four As. While one A stands for the name of the company (of course), the other three represent the brand’s three core values: artistico for artistic, altaqualita for amazing quality, abbordabile for affordable.

Constructed using Swiss Quarts movements, sapphire glass, and genuine Italian leather straps, Alvieri watches are not only stylish and fashionable but extremely durable. As of now, Alvieri offers its two styles, the Firenze Classic ($175) and Firenze Lunar($199), at discounts of up to $85 during its run on Kickstarter. With 22 days remaining in the crowdfunding campaign, Alvieri has already raised $3k over its goal of $10k.

The new Google Pixel Watch is already on sale — 20% off
The Google Pixel Watch 3 on a white background.

For those who are looking to buy a smart device from watch deals, your search should probably end with this offer from Amazon for the recently released Google Pixel Watch 3. The 41mm, Wi-Fi model, which is originally priced at $350, is down to $280 following a 20% discount. We're not sure how much longer this bargain will remain online, but we don't think it will last long. If you want to take advantage of the $70 in savings, we highly recommend proceeding with the transaction as soon as possible.

Why you should buy the Google Pixel Watch 3
There are some reasons not to buy a smartwatch, but the Google Pixel Watch 3 -- launched just two months ago -- makes a strong case for finally buying a smartwatch if you don't own one yet. Compared to its predecessor, its Actua touchscreen is twice as bright and 10% larger, making it much easier to see what's on it. Its battery can last up to 24 hours on a single charge with always-on display activate, and up to 36 hours if you activate Battery Saver mode. You'll receive notifications from your paired smartphone, and you'll also be able to use the Google Pixel Watch 3 with popular apps such as Google Maps, Google Wallet, and Google Assistant.

Celebrating 150 years of Bulova: An iconic watch brand and American treasure
The 150 year milestone is an incredible achievement for this all-American brand.
Original Bulova Watches sign from the early 1900s tinted

Today, we have the pleasure of experiencing two interviews with influential contacts from Bulova, one of the longest-standing watch companies in the country, which is now celebrating its 150th anniversary. For the first interview, Dan Gaul sits down with Jeffrey Cohen, CEO of Citizen Watch America's portfolio of brands, which includes Citizen, Bulova, Caravelle, Wittnauer, Frederique Constant, Alpina, Arnold & Son, and Ateliers deMonaco. Gaul also sits down with Carl Rosen, Museum Curator, and former COO, to talk about Bulova's New York City headquarters and archives. There's a lot of ground to cover, so let's go.
Interviewing a Bulova legend
Bear in mind there's no video content for the initial interview with Jeffrey Cohen; instead, we'll be looking at direct quotes. Why is he such a big deal? With over 37 years of management experience and over 43 years in the industry, he understands the ins and outs. "I saw immediately the beauty and passion of the watch world, and I knew that this would be my life," Cohen says. Thanks to Jeffrey Cohen's strong leadership qualities, major investments in infrastructure and technology, and his focus on developing talent, Citizen Watch America is one of the leading groups in the industry, bar none.

Naturally excited, Gaul opens by briefly explaining how he approached his interview prepping and what stood out most to him: "Hearing about all the firsts that Bulova has done, and also the way that it has given back over those 150 years to the community, to the country, to the industry is a fascinating story."
