This Rezvani Tank Should Be Your Personal Apocalypse-Mobile

Do you ever survey the crossovers and SUVs shuffling around public roads and wonder, “Where’s the bravado?” What you really should be asking is, “Where’s the Rezvani Tank?”

Even rugged production utility vehicles like the Ford F-150 Raptor fall short of the swagger of military-grade equipment. The Oshkosh L-ATV, for example, has a tube-launched missile system. Where’s that option on a Honda Pilot’s spec sheet?

Tragically, if you want to buy an L-ATV, you’ll need a million bucks and a government hookup to drive it on the street. There is another option, though, courtesy of a California-based specialty automaker.

Rezvani made headlines two years ago when it introduced the Beast sports car. Weighing just 1,650 pounds and with 500 horsepower on tap, the Beast is an outright super-car with ridiculous styling to match. This year, the company launched a hardtop version called the Beast Alpha. With a more manageable 400 hp, additional creature comforts, and a cheaper starting price, the Alpha dives into the heart of the performance car market.

Rezvani has proven it can make a raucous sports car, but its latest endeavor has a very different center of gravity. Leaving nothing to imagination, the Rezvani Tank is a tactical urban vehicle within what Rezvani calls the “extreme utility vehicle” (XUV) class. The goal of the Tank is to look like a military rig, drive like a luxury SUV, and have the capability of a hardcore off-roader.

Based loosely on the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, the Rezvani Tank pulls suspension, body, and powertrain components from high-end suppliers. The final product is a futuristic-looking, matte gray behemoth with plenty of attitude.

All Tanks come equipped with 4×4 drivetrains, a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 with 500 hp and 430 pound-foot of torque, and an LED lightbar. For extra off-road performance, buyers can equip a 6.0-inch lift, 37-inch tires, Dynatrac 44 or 60 front and 60 or 80 rear axles, bigger brakes, air lockers, an air compressor, an electronically locking differential, beefier driveshafts, and Fox shocks.

Satisfying the assault vehicle requirements are a handful of options like bulletproof glass, military-grade run-flat tires, Kevlar armor in the body panels, and Kevlar protection around the fuel tank, floorpan, and radiator.

Interior highlights include hand-stitched leather seats, a microsuede headliner, 7.9-inch infotainment system, a head-up display, and, most importantly, thermal night vision.

As you might imagine, all this machismo doesn’t come cheap. Prices start at $178,500 and a few options will quickly push the Tank into the $200,000 range. That’s a lot of coin, but still a fraction of the cost of a military vehicle. Whether you think the end is near, or you just want to scare small children, the Rezvani Tank is ready for action.

Tesla unleashes the Model 3 Performance: More than the sum of its parts
The fastest small Tesla is a bargain speedster
Red Tesla Model 3 Performance facing straight on parked on dark metal plates with a dark wall in the background.

Earlier in 2024, Tesla refreshed the Model 3 rear-wheel drive and dual-motor AWD versions but did not update the Model 3 Performance variant. The wait is over, and with Tesla's recent price reductions, the refreshed Model 3 Performance is an amazing deal for a car with sub-3-second 0-60 mph acceleration and nearly 300 miles of range.
Why the Tesla Model 3 Performance matters so much

The Tesla Model 3 Performance fills a void in the existing lineup since the January 2024 refresh. The update included new headlight and taillight designs and new color choices, including the Ultra Red in the Model 3 Performance photo above. The new Model 3s also gained ventilated front seats, an 8-inch display for rear-seat passengers, a quieter cabin, and more luxurious seating. The updates were welcome, but removing the Performance trim from Tesla's online order sheet disappointed buyers who wanted even more speed than the RWD and standard dual-motor AWD versions.

Lamborghini Urus SE Super SUV shot front on at Chelsea Arts District debut event.

Some car makers roll out new models at race tracks, and others launch their latest vehicles at car shows. On April 30, 2024, Volkswagen Group's Lamborghini brand unveiled its freshest expression of rolling automotive art in New York's Chelsea Arts District. The Lamborghini Urus SE breaks new ground for the luxury supercar brand because it's the first plug-in hybrid Super SUV.
Why the Lamborghini Urus SE launch matters
North America is Lamborghini's top market, and the Lamborghini Urus is the company's best-selling model in history. The event took place at the Lamborghini Lounge NYC, following an earlier showing on April 24 at the Beijing Auto Show. When the Urus SE completes testing, and customers can begin receiving their cars in late 2024, they will drive the most powerful model of this important vehicle.
The hybrid system that powers the Lamborghini  Urus SE

The PHEV Urus SE combines the output of a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 and a 25-kWh lithium-ion battery. With a total of 789 horsepower, the Urus SE has a top speed of 194 miles per hour and accelerates from 0-to-62 mph in 3.4 seconds. These numbers top the non-electrified Lamborghini Urus S, which scores a 190 mph top speed and has a 0-to-62 mph time of 3.5 seconds. Clearly, both are exceedingly fast SUVs, but the Urus SE is speedier. The electric motor can also propel the SUV for more than 37.28 miles in EV-only mode, according to Lamborghini.
