The July 4th weekend is almost upon us, so we here at The Manual wanted to help get your packin’ on. If you’ll be hanging at the pool, headed to a beach, or planning a staycation, we’ve got a few packing options for just what you may need for this (hopefully) sun-filled long holiday weekend.
Osprey – This just may be the best bag to take away this, or any weekend. The combining of the retractable handle, wheels, backpack straps and a detachable daypack, paired with lightweight fabrics and a hip-belt. Pull it through airports, then tote on the trail.
Zachary Prell – This shirt is a combination of a dobby (a woven pattern of raised dots) and stripes, which makes it a modern take on vintage. Both lightweight and versatile, can you say: weekend ready?
GitmanVintage – The Aloha print really communicates the love of summer. This lightweight tailored short can be dressed up, or worn casually. Wear them with solids or stripes, but grab some BBQ and chilled libation.
SeaVees – A washed linen sneaker? Well, yes! This pair of comfy lace-up favorites is not only comfortable, but feature a foot bed that is lined in antibacterial and hypoallergenic modal (bamboo) canvas to keep your feet dry and odor free. That is reason enough!

Carhartt Work in Progress – Nothing like a classic tank for a day at the beach/pool, or out for a bike ride. This single layer jersey knit always works well as a layering piece #gettanked
Aether – Lace-up this clean flat-laying front swim short. It’s low-profile Velcro side tabs along the waist allow for a unique fit. Color-blocked and quick dry, this suit is true form & function.
Teva at L.L. Bean – Whether at the beach, pool or back yard, this rugged sandal is ideal. Not only is the nubuck leather comfortable, but the foot-bed conforms to the shape of your foot.

Sunski – Named after a favored hiking trail, the new Dipseas’ sunglasses blend the style of the city with the spirit of the outdoors. With their polarized lens, they tell Al Roker to bring on the sun!
Sunspel – A weekend staple. This zip-front 100%cotton hoodie is unbeatably soft and the perfect option for a cool night around beach bonfire.
Jack Spade – A t-shirt goes with everything. Soft and lived-in style, this pop of blue make this iconic menswear-classic perfect to go with every outfit.
Freemans Sporting Club – Made in NYC of fine Japanese cotton. This straight-legged tapered pant gets better with each washing. Rolled-up for ease, red, white and you.
Cole Haan – This sporty wingtip oxford in mesh, is as light as a shoe once reserved for long distance runners. Add comfort and lightweight to your packing checklist.

Nike is renowned for its lifestyle sneaker and running shoe collections, however, they’re also taking a dip into the hiking boot sector. In their latest release, Nike unveiled their new hiking boot silhouette, which they’re already doubling down. Before the drop, the shoe brand teased an upcoming new colorway. While there's still some time to wait for the second color combination, the first drop has plenty to talk about. As a neutral hue, Nike’s hiking boot is anything but a regular shoe. Inspired by previous outdoor shoes, this latest edition has everything ready for both nature and city living.
Nike’s Cygnal hiking boot

Available in a rich Baroque Brown colorway, the boot is ready for anything with a waterproof leather upper. The shoe also comes with a foam midsole and rubber outsole that provides plenty of stability and comfort to the user. The Cygnal boot’s rubber outsole is rugged enough to withstand any terrain, even in the city. Thick padding on the tongue and collar finish the look and give the boot a tough exterior. The boot also comes with double laces, giving wearers the ability to choose the laces that best match their style.

Eton turns the page with debut knit collection
Sweaters and long sleeve polos signal brand expansion
eton knit collection man in polo

Brands are known for evolving. For many brands, you evolve or you die; no two ways about it. Then there are other brands that don't evolve because they have to in order to survive. The ones that simply don't get complacent, that look at all they have done and say, "What's next?" For Eton, they are a shirt brand that has been around for a century, and they have never had to evolve because they have been at the top of the game seemingly since they opened the doors. From classic dress shirts to casual off-day elegance, Eton has always been the standard others strive to reach. But they are a latter brand, looking to what is next. And the answer to the question is the launch of the Eton knit collection.
An expansion focused on classics

Their introduction into the knit space (no, this isn't what they call your grandmother's craft room) is an extension of what Eton has come to be known for, craftsmanship and attention to detail. They come in three classic cuts, the basic crew knit which is perfect for the day around town, the long sleeve polo which is going to be all the rage this fall, and the quarter-zip which will go perfectly over your dress shirt and tie at the office. They come in a collection of classic and elegant colors: forest green, navy blue, oxblood red, subtle beige, and black. While this is a small introduction into knitwear, it is merely the beginning for Eton as more is expected in subsequent collections.
