It’s still hard to convince people that there is actually quality surfing around the New York City area, but surfing in Paris?
Alas, even the Parisians have become ‘coucou’ about the sport and of course, the fashion crowd has followed. Leave it to the Saturdays boys, who brought surfing back into the American vocabulary, to collaborate with colette, Paris’ coolest shop for a limited edition collection.
Colin Tunstall, Morgan Collett and Josh Rosen opened their first Saturdays surf shop in New York City in August of 2009 and now they have expanded to the West Village and Tokyo. Their laid back esthetic paired with proper knowledge and passion about surfing has had the entire menswear world jumping on the back of their board to get in on the action.
colette (no, it’s not capitalized) was a natural choice for Saturday’s to work with. Both companies delve into art, photography, philanthropy, sport and style so the boys had a huddle and came up with a capsule collection available online as well as at the respective stores.
The graphic collection was inspired by colette’s signature blue dots and Saturdays now iconic slash logo. The designs can be found on everything from printed tees, board shorts, hats, beach towels and bags.
We took a moment to chat with our boy Morgan to hear more about the collaboration:
How did this collab come about?
We have been working with colette since our first collection and our relationship has grown over the last few years. We were always thinking about doing something together and it materialized for spring/summer 2013.
Have you ever been surfing in France? If so where are the good spots?
Sadly I have not had the opportunity to surf in the south of France but I know that Biarritz has fantastic surf.
Give us your top three spots you like to go when in Paris.
