The Coldest Day AW13/14 Collection by Penfield

When it’s cold outside, we’re not fantasizing about central heating and cups of cocoa; we’re dreaming of Penfield, in all its fleecy, blankety glory.

There aren’t many brands that can compete when it comes to bundling up for the grey and snowy season. In fact, when Harvey Gross established the brand in 1975, he was only interested in creating the warmest outerwear possible, the prerequisite of the brands down insulated outerwear that we’ve come to know and love. This season, Penfield has built on everything it knows and loves about super warm clothing and trumped it with their awesome AW13 collection dubbed ‘The Coldest Day’.

The collection consists of old favorites, including the Hoosac Hooded Mountain Parka, and smart new additions like the super lightweight Chinook Vest and the Naklin Packable Tech Down Shirt, the latter of which is the answer to winter layering FYI. Though most of the collection actually double-up as smart layering components – which the lookbook demonstrates exceptionally.

Aside from the outerwear, the collection is made up of Fair Isle knits, fleece and down-filled vests, sartorial sweats, plaid shirts and classical, super chinos. There’s also a woolen blanket that we’re gingerly hoping to incorporate into our winter wardrobe without looking like some kind of new age explorer.

The real appeal of this collection lies in its versatility – each piece would look just as at home on the slopes as it would on the city streets. We’ve also developed a bit of an obsession with the microdot Summit jacket that is due to be released very soon.

The pre-owned luxury watch market is down, but prices for these 2 Rolexes are up
Rolex GMT Master II Pepsi

According to the Bloomberg Subdial Watch Index, which tracks the 50 most traded luxury watches, the pre-owned luxury watch market moved down around 0.1% last month, marking the sign of a patient market that wants more. This isn't necessarily surprising —the index has fallen 8.7% in the past year. But there are a couple of Rolex watches that are bucking the trend: the Rolex Starbucks and the Rolex Pepsi, which gained 3.2% and 3.3%, respectively.

The overall stagnation of the watch market can have various factors, including anticipation for newer releases. External factors like economic and geopolitical conflicts have also affected the way consumers choose to purchase watches. Prices soared during the pandemic, so a leveling out at some point was expected.
What are the ‘Starbucks’ and ‘Pepsi’ watches from Rolex?
