Getting The Inside Scoop — Fall 2013

We know that some stores can be intimidating to walk into. They can seem pretentious, too cool, or straight-up confusing (where is the men’s section please?!). Scoop eradicated the tension of shopping in 1996, when they opened their first store in New York City.  They were merchandised as the “Ultimate Closet”, and have been so successful that they have 15 stores across the country. Their website and stores feature a highly edited selection of the season’s best looking duds, so it is a great one stop shop for various brands.  They feature both internationally acclaimed and young emerging designers, that include:  Rag & Bone, John Varvatos, J Brand, Etro, Paul Smith, Stone Island, Moncler, Tailor Vintage, J. Lindberg, and AG Jeans.

Scoop is also well known for their customer service. Whether it’s helping you find awesome items for the season, or building that “ultimate closet”, their sales associates/stylists, can make that happen.

We caught-up with Bryan Reynolds, Men’s Division Merchandise Manager, to ask about a preview of fall 2013, and here is what he had to say:

Guys should look out for great outerwear pieces, luxury sweaters in solid cashmere and novelty styles.  In addition, some other trends for men will be: Plaids, Parkas, Color Blocking, Graphic Sweaters, Bomber Jackets, and Fur-Trimmed Jackets-very old school adventurer!

Scoop has a new store in San Francisco opening at the end of August, and they have 2-3 new stores expected to open in 2014.

Style hacks: Your suit should come with two pairs of pants
Remedy one of the biggest struggles with suits with this one hack
Man in Men's Wearhouse Blue Suit

When I first started selling suits, it was mostly to men who were leaving the military and starting as aides to politicians, or men working as doctors, lawyers, or accountants. Then, of course, you had the lucrative wedding business. But one thing was common among every man I sold suits to: They were hardworking and spent their days getting things done.

Now, while this sounds honorable and a fantastic way for a man to live life, working hard and providing for his family, there are some setbacks or some side effects to this lifestyle. One of them is the impact it has on your best suits. Suit pants for men are typically lighter, with an elevated fabric that doesn't always stand up to the more rigorous work of the hardest-working men. Therefore, there's a hack that you should start implementing in your suit shopping every chance you get. Every suit you own should come with a second pair of pants. It will save you years of heartache.
