The Aston Martin Vanquish Volante: an expensive, exquisitely boisterous accessory

The soundtrack from a V12; the accessory you never knew you needed. Luckily, Aston Martin has you covered with this: the Vanquish Volante.

With an automatic cloth top that stows neatly in 14 seconds, a supple leather interior, and a howling 6.0-liter V12, the Vanquish Volante is truly the ultimate super grand tourer.

In order to fashion the Vanquish Volante, the brand’s latest and arguably one of its most fantastic creations, Aston Martin designers chopped the roof off the Volante coupe. But they didn’t stop there.

Carefully sculpting the entire body from carbon fiber the British designers cleverly included design elements borrowed from the Aston Martin One-77 supercar, including the rear LED light blades, the dashboard center stack, and the brakes.

While its utterly awe-inspiring to behold, the Vanquish Volante might be even better with your eyes closed. The roar of the 565-horsepower V12 completes a part of  your soul that you didn’t know was missing. Open your eyes again and the Vanquish Volante will make a 0-62mph sprint in 4.1 seconds and onto a top speed of 183mph.

Aston Martin’s attention to detail is absolutely astonishing. The outside is streamlined and muscular while the interior is sophisticated and comfortable with room for four. Quilted leather seats give way to metal dashboard controls finished with chrome trim.

If the driver looks up, he’ll see a full-height windshield – a first for Aston. This allows the glass to run up to meet the fabric roof, which is not only extremely visually clean but also imparts the feel of a tall, proud grand touring roadster.

What will this highly refined piece of British engineering cost? The 2014 Vanquish Volante will start at a mere $297,995 in the U.S. with deliveries beginning later this year. We’ll admit it’s hefty price tag for a shout-y accessory, but what a marvelous set of pipes it has indeed.

Penn Badgley looking ominous as Joe Goldberg

After five seasons of twists, murders, and weird obsessions, Joe Goldberg's story on Netflix's You has come to a close. The crime drama has been a staple on the streamer with its mix of great characters and binge-worthy mystery that makes it feel like the best parts of a true crime documentary you'd watch on Oxygen on a rainy Saturday afternoon while you're sick. While it might not have been the best show on Netflix, You was a great way to get sucked into a different world with interesting storylines for several hours each season.

If you're already missing the soapy, addictive drama of You, we have plenty of similar shows for you to watch next. They range from Emmy-worthy Golden Age dramas to junk-food style crime mysteries that follow parallel themes and arcs to the Netflix hit. These are the shows like You to watch next.
